And yet, once Wednesday is complete, it will be back to hellatus again. The Horrors!!!

This hasn't been the best week for my Nielsen diary. Or maybe I don't watch as much TV as I thought I did or as it may seem to to anyone who actually reads my posts. Since last Thursday, I've only watched about 8 hrs of Television and I am sure that the Nielsen peeps do not care that 4 of those hours were spent finally watching the last few episodes of Fringe! That show has already ended for goodness sakes!

And I shift everything. EVERYTHING!! whether it be starting the latest SPN ep 15 minutes after it starts or months and months as is the case with several series hanging out on my DVR. They should really count Netflix as I spent one evening watching my latest Disc in the Gilmore Girls series.

As for Brandon's diary, he has watched no TV.

I'm really paying too much to my satellite provider, aren't I? But the DVR is totally worth it and I'm pretty addicted to the few shows I do watch.

Yowza! Forget the new Star Trek movie (well, not really). I've been waiting to see ENDER'S GAME on the big screen since I read it many, many years ago. (I've lost track!)

gateslacker: (spnomgsam)

THAT. WAS. AWESOME!!! And now I am feeling a bit smug about my spoiler free speculation that was (maybe) right.

After waiting forever, it seems, and suffering due to my total abstinence from spoilers, I was SO ready for this new episode.

It delivered! Alas, it has only whetted my thirst for reading ALL the spoilers even more. But I am still being strong!

Birthday wishes and all the best for my dear friend [livejournal.com profile] de23!! Is it my imagination or are these things coming around faster and faster? Don't ask me how old you are as, apparently, I can't even keep up with my own age.

No, seriously, this week when I went to get the car insured a lady who works there (who was my Sunday school teacher) says with no small amount of shock, "you're FORTY FOUR!!!!!"

Now I'd like to think her shock was all "oh my gosh you are really 44. No Way!" But I suspect it was more "oh my gosh you are getting old! How old does this make me?"

If she's asked me that before MLK weekend I'd have been all, no I going to be 44 but since you all set me straight.......

So, sure, I'm a Samgirl by the narrowest of narrow margins and I adore bromo THE BEST. But, I didn't get my nickname for no reason and I really like Cas a whole bunch, too.

And, let's face it. Misha is pretty wicked funny. I'd follow him on twitter if I was even on twitter.

See, there's, seemingly, an online poll or two a day that involves voting and SPN in some way. And SPN often wins because this show inspires some pretty crazy devotion (and there is good reason for that, IMHO, but I'm crazy devoted, soooo...........)

The latest contest has been this Alpha Male Madness Tournament and the two finalists are Misha and Jensen Ackles, who usually wins these things (I was going to say "comes out on top" but, well, this is fandom and all so I thought better of it)

Here is Misha's response. Gunter glieben glauchen globen. Alright, I've got something to say.

My LMAO moment of the day right there!

Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] ruralstar!

I hope your day was AWESOME and that you had cake!

Oh wow! Just wow! I can't even begin to process all the stuff that went down in this episode

Seriously, that was heart pounding, yelling at the TV, and on the edge of my seat television right there!

AWESOME!!!!!!!

It doesn't get much better than that, folks.

Rimmer: "We have nothing to fear but fear itself. Apart from pain. And maybe humiliation. And, obviously, death and failure. But apart from fear, pain, humiliation, failure, the unknown, and death, we have nothing to fear but fear itself! Who's with me?"

Can it really be 10 more days till the next new episode of Supernatural? With the exception of re re re re watching the end of season 1 with [livejournal.com profile] de23I am totally needing my SPN fix (BTW, [livejournal.com profile] soniag we did it in preparation for a discussion of your feelings so, chop chop ;)

Oh, who am I kidding? I don't need any excuse to re re re re re re re re watch any of them.

My body seems to instinctively know that my little section of the world is beginning to tilt more towards the sun. It doesn't seem to matter that most of the week was still cold and rainy. I can just tell. My overall attitude and energy level has started to inexplicably improve. (I tell ya, it's like my brain and my body breathes this huge sigh of relief!) Maybe I should think about purchasing one of those lights for next year.

I've lost 2 lbs in 2 months. That's about the slowest thing ever but I guess I should be happy that it is still loss. And, apparently, hula hooping IS good for your waist cause I've lost an inch and a half in my waist during that same amount of time!

Brandon wants to go on a Senior trip with a group of friends to Panama City Beach after graduation. (I think the road trip to Canada is a bust) When I gave him the choice; England with me or Panama City Beach with a group of recently graduated seniors, he chose the Senior Trip. (Imagine that?) Of course, he would really like to do both. So, I'm torn between sticking to your choice/responsibly minded finances versus WTH, you only live once/might be the last family trip we do.

At the moment, I'm leaning toward throwing caution into the wind and letting him do both. It is senior year after all.

But, he's on his own with fixing the bumper of his car (he sideswiped Cody's backing out of the driveway.) Now, I can always tell when he pulls into the driveway (aside from the booming bass)

The people who make iPad and iPhone accessories are making a killing. These things are seriously overpriced Buuuuuut, my case has totally saved my phone a number of times when I dropped it on the concrete. If this job falls through, I'm going to work for Otter Box.

I honest to goodness bought a food processor to try my hand at making my own almond butter. What. The. Hell!?!

Thank you [livejournal.com profile] de23 for the surprise cookbook!!

Just so you know, Plato's Closet is quickly becoming my favorite place to shop. (What? What? What?.. What? I'm gonna pop some tags. Only got twenty dollars in my pocket....)

(Of course Brandon maintains that Plato's Closet, as a consignment store, is not the same as a Thrift Shop but, whatever, dude. Close enough)

Been thinking about my bucket list (now that I actually feel like changing out of my pajamas and leaving the house on my days off). I hit the parasailing, going to PEI last year. (and my first 5K) Going to England this year but I've really been thinking about other stuff I'd like to do that does not involve my job.

[livejournal.com profile] _leigh_leighI think it is safe to assume that running (non-stop!) for a 5K is not going to ever really happen. Yesterday, I hit upon the idea of taking actual, bone fide singing/voice lessons. Sure, I'm still a big fat chicken but, IDK, I think it might be nice to learn "how" to sing for realz. Of course I'm not exactly sure where I could do that semi-locally.....

I'll be thinking more about that list.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!

Supernatural has the best gag reels/outtakes!!!!!!!

gateslacker: (merlinfanfic)
As you know, I devour read quite a bit of fanfic. (So much so that my "to read" pile of books is rarely ever diminished and I totally suck at Book Club)

But, I don't rec a whole lot on here mainly because, if you are a fan of whatever and read fanfic from whatever, you probably know where to go to get your fanfic fix. Maybe I should remedy that.

Today's fic rec is Smoke on the Water and it's a crossover of Burn Notice and SPN by [livejournal.com profile] mousme

You're probably thinking, "Do What?!?" Now I know not everyone is a fan of crossover fic but I tend to enjoy it because I like seeing how an author ties two 'verses together. This one is done very well and all of the characters are spot on! (So much so, I have the urge to hit Netflix and start watching Burn Notice where I left off.)

Here, have a summary. Not mine.

Casefic. Former spy Michael Westen has enough problems of his own —not least of which is figuring out who burned him and why— without his mother accepting jobs on his behalf as well. But when he starts investigating the unsolved deaths of young people in Miami, he finds himself crossing paths with an unlikely pair of brothers. In Michael's line of work, suspicion is par for the course.

And, off topic, anyone know where I can find me an SPN mood theme?

This evening I made the bacon and Brussels sprouts thing that [livejournal.com profile] de23 made at NAH, except I used different spices (top dish), more of those wonderful pumpkin bars (left) and the Berry Good Cobbler (right) from the Everyday Paleo book loaned to me by [livejournal.com profile] de23. However, instead of the cinnamon it called for, I went with apple pie spice.

Clearly, this is getting out of hand! I hope the Brussels sprouts and the cobbler freeze well. (I know the pumpkin bars do.)

Apparently, if I have more than two days off I will 1) Cook more and 2) Spam my flist with the results and/or whatever else is floating around in my brain at the time.

Today, I tried the Grain free pumpkin bars and they were AWESOME and way less calorie laden than the cinnamon biscuits were. Of course, they are so good I will have to freeze individual serving sizes to keep from eating them all.

In other news, what the HECK was up with that Downton Abbey finale? Well, now I know the real deal and I don't feel quite as manipulated (in a bad way). I realize there weren't too many alternatives given the circumstances but it still played out quite sucktacularly.

It was fun watching more of season seven with [livejournal.com profile] de23. Fave line from one of my favorite episodes, "Plucky Pennywhistle's Magical Menagerie" (Well one of them. How can you choose when there are so many good ones?)

Dean to Sam: "Just know that 99.9% of all clowns can't hurt you."

Hee!!!!

All PSA's should be so enjoyable. The older I get, the more I realize that eye candy is good for my overall health and wellbeing. ;)

gateslacker: (spndeansmiley)
It feels like it has been forever since I posted and I wonder why I don't do drive by updates. Maybe because my "head posts" aren't always in sync with my access. There's no service in the building I work in and, even if I am not in the building, I live in an area of that stupid E (i.e., no 3 or 4G.) That cuts out any lunchtime musings, should they occur.

So, here's a few things I am happy about, which is saying A LOT since I am a decidedly unhappy, unmotivated person in the Winter even when the sun decides to make an appearance.

(In no particular order)

SEASON 9!!!!!!!!!!! 'nuff said

It's Wednesday. On Wednesday, I am more optimistic and all aflutter with anticipation of a new episode. It's pathetic (but fun) so who cares.

Long Weekend!!!!!!

Chatting with [livejournal.com profile] dombedeand [livejournal.com profile] _leigh_leigh while watching Swan Song was great fun yesterday. Having iMessage tied to my iPad makes it even better!

Ditto on [livejournal.com profile] de23 being able to come over last Saturday so she could watch some season seven. It's always more fun viewing with someone else.

[livejournal.com profile] de23 the roasted Okra was FANTASTIC. However, I improvised and did not use the cumin. I didn't have any, of course, but I don't think I would have liked that flavor on okra, anyway.

I am getting pretty awesome with the weighted hula hoop. I am the only one, aside from the instructor, who can actually keep it going. Have I mentioned that I Have never been able to do this? You really work up a sweat, too.

The Winchesters DO look quite fetching on the 50 inch widescreen. At some point, I will provide pictorial evidence of this so that you all may also drool.

My supervisor registered me for a required online CEU course. She was feeling bad that she kept harassing me to get it done while not giving me time on the schedule to do it. Hello, it's a 4-5 hr course. I can't exactly do it between patients and I work over enough as it is. So, she finally set aside some time and then saved me even more time by completing my registration. The password she chose for me? Dean1*. Hahahahahaha. I don't even know if it was amusing happenstance or intentional because she doesn't watch the show (not to be confused with my supervising physician who is also a recent convert, I am probably the most supervised person in my office.)

I should feel really guilty about this next happy thing which I can't tell you because it is really spoilery for some upcoming season 8 stuff. I try not to expand the spoilery stuff when I happen across it but you all know I am WEAK and my weakness only increases as a season progresses.

I should be ashamed to admit that the shmoopy ending of last weeks Downton Abbey gave me the warm fuzzies, proving yet again that I can be pretty easy to manipulate sometimes. Whatever. I am choosing to see it as hope that I will never become a completely jaded, cynical viewer/reader of stories. Those folks are miserable, man! They're never satisfied.

Whoever posted that link to the never before seen SG-1 bloopers, you gave me more nostalgic warm fuzzies!!!Awwwww. [livejournal.com profile] dragonfly_sg1 was that you? If so, can you humor my total laziness and post a link or embed in the comments. Finding the youtube embed code on my iPad is historically problematic.

What is making you happy today?
