I know! It's like Merlin has bought into this whole destiny business so much, and how can this not happen with Kilgarrah telling him the fate of the known universe is all on him, that he has developed tunnel vision. I was intrigued by just how easily he manipulated it all but not necessarily in a happy way. I don't even think he even realizes how his whole world revolves around Arthur and, though I love their relationship, I'm not exactly a fan of tipping over that line. At what point does it become painful to watch? At one point will Merlin seem cloying? But, again, with this series focus on Arthur, it makes some sense. I definitely would like to see Merlin doing something that is NOT related to serving, protecting, and bolstering Arthur. I'm hoping that the next series explores that more, explores the magic, and delves into Merlin's own magical destiny apart from Arthur, which has sort of been sidelined. If there's devotion, I want to see it go both ways, which I think they did pretty well the first part of the series.
