It feels like it has been forever since I posted and I wonder why I don't do drive by updates. Maybe because my "head posts" aren't always in sync with my access. There's no service in the building I work in and, even if I am not in the building, I live in an area of that stupid E (i.e., no 3 or 4G.) That cuts out any lunchtime musings, should they occur.

So, here's a few things I am happy about, which is saying A LOT since I am a decidedly unhappy, unmotivated person in the Winter even when the sun decides to make an appearance.

(In no particular order)

SEASON 9!!!!!!!!!!! 'nuff said

It's Wednesday. On Wednesday, I am more optimistic and all aflutter with anticipation of a new episode. It's pathetic (but fun) so who cares.

Long Weekend!!!!!!

Chatting with [livejournal.com profile] dombedeand [livejournal.com profile] _leigh_leigh while watching Swan Song was great fun yesterday. Having iMessage tied to my iPad makes it even better!

Ditto on [livejournal.com profile] de23 being able to come over last Saturday so she could watch some season seven. It's always more fun viewing with someone else.

[livejournal.com profile] de23 the roasted Okra was FANTASTIC. However, I improvised and did not use the cumin. I didn't have any, of course, but I don't think I would have liked that flavor on okra, anyway.

I am getting pretty awesome with the weighted hula hoop. I am the only one, aside from the instructor, who can actually keep it going. Have I mentioned that I Have never been able to do this? You really work up a sweat, too.

The Winchesters DO look quite fetching on the 50 inch widescreen. At some point, I will provide pictorial evidence of this so that you all may also drool.

My supervisor registered me for a required online CEU course. She was feeling bad that she kept harassing me to get it done while not giving me time on the schedule to do it. Hello, it's a 4-5 hr course. I can't exactly do it between patients and I work over enough as it is. So, she finally set aside some time and then saved me even more time by completing my registration. The password she chose for me? Dean1*. Hahahahahaha. I don't even know if it was amusing happenstance or intentional because she doesn't watch the show (not to be confused with my supervising physician who is also a recent convert, I am probably the most supervised person in my office.)

I should feel really guilty about this next happy thing which I can't tell you because it is really spoilery for some upcoming season 8 stuff. I try not to expand the spoilery stuff when I happen across it but you all know I am WEAK and my weakness only increases as a season progresses.

I should be ashamed to admit that the shmoopy ending of last weeks Downton Abbey gave me the warm fuzzies, proving yet again that I can be pretty easy to manipulate sometimes. Whatever. I am choosing to see it as hope that I will never become a completely jaded, cynical viewer/reader of stories. Those folks are miserable, man! They're never satisfied.

Whoever posted that link to the never before seen SG-1 bloopers, you gave me more nostalgic warm fuzzies!!!Awwwww. [livejournal.com profile] dragonfly_sg1 was that you? If so, can you humor my total laziness and post a link or embed in the comments. Finding the youtube embed code on my iPad is historically problematic.

What is making you happy today?

 Happy Belated Holidays!!

I haven't posted in a bit and I am not sure why, other than the business that came with graduation and the holiday. I never even got my tree put up this year and only really felt the Christmas spirit on Christmas day! I have also picked up some extra days at work since school is out and I could always use the money, especially considering the huge amount I am going to be out over the next couple of months.

Graduation went well and I am so relieved to have that bit over with, even though there is still much to do. I haven't submitted my application for certification because APSU apparently has a wonderfully long Christmas break that is unheard of in other working sectors. It must be a school thing. Anyway, they notified me at 5pm last Wednesday that my sealed transcripts were ready and that I could pick them up the next day. Naturally, I had to work the next day and the 12 hour shift meant that, nope, I wouldn't be picking them up. Of course, Friday was the 24th and after e-mailing them of my intention to pick them up today, I learned that they won't be back till after January 2nd. Such is the complication of a December graduation. And since I have a review course in Memphis Jan 3-5, Jan 6th will be the first day I can pick them up.

What does this mean? It means that I won't be submitting my application till sometime after January 6th and I have no idea how long it takes for them to assign me a test date/testing center and it could be mid February or later before I can even test! I hadn't planned on worrying about job searching until after I pass the test (Please, oh please!) but I have had three different potentially interested parties/job offers which makes me a little more anxious about delays and whatnot. I don't want to lose out as two of these potential, possible soon to be job offers are two places I would like to work. On the positive side, it gives me more time to study, which I need to do as I haven't cracked open a book since graduation.

Add that anxiousness to the apprehensiveness I feel about  my upcoming "role change" anyway and it makes for a fair amount of stress. I like being an "expert" and dread the awkwardness and uncertainty that comes with being the "novice" again.

Argh!

Ah well. I don't often meme but I rather liked this one that I nicked from [livejournal.com profile] archaeologist_d . It was a fun distraction.

OMG! This so makes me want to embark on a massive SG-1 rewatch and start making vids again (although Merlin was kind of making me feel that way already.)

I must be strong and not give my superpower any more ammunition.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] dm_lunsford for the fake trailer linkie.

Alas, summer is beginning to wind down for us as Brandon goes back to school today and starts for real next Wednesday. I have already been trying to plan those last trips to the pool. I did do a bit of school shopping yesterday but I usually don’t go crazy as it is still hot and Brandon has plenty of summer clothes to start out in. (Because, duh, it’s still summer and will be hot till October anyway.) He didn’t find any shoes he liked as he is picky but knows that I will not spend a fortune on them and that certainly narrows the selection…LOL

I am up in the air about my own schooling. I had decided that I was going to take some time to replenish my savings account and wasn’t going to register this year. Then, one of the docs intimated that they might be able to “get me a scholarship” which probably means, “give me some money and then I will work for them when I am done” which looks really good to me. However, I haven’t heard any more about it so we will see. But, I am only taking classes this semester if someone gives me some money…LOL!

I am pretty much done with renovations at the moment though, once you get started it is hard to quit. You keep seeing something else that you want to do. At least any further home improvement won’t involve any major construction. The home office has been completely moved and the spare bedroom is now just that, a spare bedroom. It even has a full size bed to accommodate more guests! (Hint, hint to folks on my F-list that a visit is always welcome!) Brandon’s room has been painted and is now traffic light green which actually looks better than it sounds, really. He has some rather retro shape appliqués on his wall as well. There were three of us trying to do the math to make sure the pattern worked when I finally said the heck with it and started with corners and center and eyeballed the rest. I have a pretty good eye for that sort of thing. However, I really did do some specific measurements when I hung a headboard on the wall in the spare bedroom because, one, it was too heavy to eyeball and, two, I knew I wasn’t going to get a do over….at least without doing some damage to the wall. I am quite proud of the headboard find as it cost me $10 at a flea market with the bed rails thrown in. I also got a good deal on a really nice end table (real wood!) that I sanded and repainted a wonderful yellow to add some color to the somewhat dark spare bedroom.

I am looking forward to Continuum though I haven’t received it yet (because I am cheap and go for super saver shipping). It was all I could do not to just buy it at Wal-Mart yesterday. Speaking of which, there was a whole separate Stargate display with Continuum at the top and all the seasons below. That is a far cry from the days when you couldn’t find Gate at Wal-Mart! I am having a hard time steering clear of response posts. I was going to try and hold off watching since I am planning a get together next week at my house with [profile] de23, a friend of hers who also likes Gate, and, hopefully, [profile] dm_lunsford, if she can find the time. If it doesn’t arrive by the end of this week, I might be able to hold out since I work Mon, Tues, and Wed and there will be no time to indulge. If it arrives by the end of this week there is no way I’ll be able to be so strong. I have been discussing Atlantis over at [profile] athosian_fieldsand, with the exception of The Seed, it has been really good, I think. I have seen a few bad reviews about Broken Ties and, honestly, I am flummoxed by them since I really thought Broken Ties was an example of Gate done Great. It just reinforces that everyone has different tastes, I suppose. I am super impressed with how they have handled Woolsey. Watching him has been a treat and all the more so because I didn’t expect to like him at all on Atlantis. As for shows, though, Doctor Who is the bomb, yo!!!! I see where it doesn’t get spectacular numbers, at least to my untrained eye, and that is something I cannot figure out. I CANNOT wait to watch tonight!

It’s off to the pool today. (Only a few more pool days left! This is the time of year I wish I had my own pool, complete with deep end and diving board…LOL) Since it is so very extremely hot, my new tactic is to swim some and then go walking which helps me stay a little cooler. I am still almost completely dry by the end of it, though.
