LOL, my 71 mother got a new phone and she is texting me like a mad woman. She's never had texting before. What a hoot!

Whew, the workout has been a killing me these past several days. I've been trying but I'm still not acclimatized from my vacation. Funny how 6 miles on PEI felt like nothing and 3 miles at Fort Donelson liked ta killed me today. I just could not keep the interval going beyond 30 minutes. I was soaked and wanted to fall down and puke on all the hills, though not necessarily in that order. I'll get used to it again. Of course, it was still 92 out at 5pm but I've worked out in worse heat. I wonder how long it is going to take to readjust.

I tried to be good on vacation but the eating plan lasted, oh, about a day. But I still ended up losing. Maybe it was all that walking and fitting in exercise on top of that.

I've readjusted to work without too much despair and distress. I only had 3 giant piles o' charts waiting on me but I'm almost caught up. (well, as caught up as I can ever be at any given time)

Yesterday, I really wanted to be at comic con. My f-list was inundated with SPN and I was all a flutter by The Pretty and completely mesmerized by Mr. Don'thatemebecauseI'mbeautiful. Seriously, the JaredHair pretty much had it going on and slayed all the competition. I could not stop looking at it. (I'd link but I'm on the iPad where I still have probs doing such things. Plus, I can never keep up with the "rules" regarding linking and I have no desire to be involved in a fandom brouhaha. )

But where was all the Merlin stuff? Must still be buried in my f-list somewhere. I'll never get caught up on the vids. (which is probably a good thing because they'll be all spoilery and I'm feeling a bit weak.)

OMG, my mom is still texting me!! Hilarious!!

[livejournal.com profile] scarym1I miss vacation, too, but you'll be pleased to know that my house was still standing when I returned home. It wasn't perfect, but way, way better than I expected what with all the teenagers who traipsed through here while I was gone. I did find boys boxers and dirty socks in the strangest places. Teenage boys. Whaddaya do? I reckon there's a partial wardrobe over here for every one of them.

Wow, school starts August 1. My son will be a senior! When did that happen!?!

It may be slow going but I do hope to post reports and pictures about the month of various vacations. I'll probably have to split it up by theme for the sake of variably interested.

I've only found a few Merlin vids of their presentation, but can't hear much of anything. (Of course, I currently have allergy ears, so that might not mean anything to you.)

And yes. Exercising on vacation is so much easier; especially with such amazing scenery.

Yes, getting back into the routine after vacation is tough. Go you for hanging in there!

By the by, I sent you an email with details RE: women's retreat. Let me know if it did not come through.

Yes! Amazing, truly. I have a bazillion things on my DVR. So many interests. So little time!

I did better today. I only felt like falling
out puking once. Probably cause I'd just climbed a hill in full sun and my heart rate was 40 bpm higher than usual. I do need a bike! I'd have to ride a cruiser because I just can't do those other type of bikes. I think id kill myself riding all bent over like that. LOL, and the brake has to be in the peddle.

Again, I'd hardly call what I do running....

I wanna do Comic-con at least once (and I hope that some of my favorite shows are still airing when I do). An SPN convention would be fun, too. Wouldn't you know they had one in Nashville (the last one there?) right when I was getting into the show that wasn't quite on my radar? That's pretty close to me. Figures.

Ugh. Allergy ears. I've seen a few links, now, but haven't had chance to watch since. If I avoid the trailer, how non spoilery awesome will that be?

I did better today, thankfully. You are right about the beautiful scenery. Of course I have that here but it is really nice seeing other parts of the world.

I didn't get it and I don't know why that happens sometimes. It makes no sense.

I'm looking forward to retreat. If I'm going to D*C, I need to get with it and buy my ticket. Are you still a go? I also have TPHA in September, too. Yowza, that's a busy month!

We just got back from vacation as well, and today was not fun at all being mostly filled with laundry (with sides of grocery shopping and cooking). I did watch the first 4 eps of SPN before we left and I have the 2nd disc waiting to be watched.

Now that the school email is finally back up I can ask about having the D*Con Friday off. I meant to do it today, but . . .laundry. Glad you're back!

Well then, I'm just gonna put the retreat details here, to make sure you get it.

Dates: September 14-16. Theme: Christmas in September! Speaker & Special Singer: Allison Durham Speer – Praise Leaders: Dr. Bob & Jennifer Wilkerson. Praise and worship services, fellowship, good meals, Snak ‘n Yak, workshop options, a Christmas Tea, Christmas parties, and a silent auction – all in the beautiful surroundings of Camp Garner Creek!

Here are the details: Lodge rooms – 1/room = $185 each; 2/room = $135 each; 3/room = $123 each; 4/room = $115 each. In order to secure lodge rooms, we're going to send in our registrations by the end of the month, so if you could let me know by July 27 if you for sure want to go. Thanks.

Feel free to pass this info along to others you think would enjoy coming along.

The district women’s ministry council has asked that everyone pray for this year’s retreat. The council members have been praying daily, and encourage others to join in – pray that in addition to being refreshing and fun, retreat will be a time of genuine spiritual revival.

As for Dragon*Con, I have my ticket and a room reserved. However, for the first time in several years I'm considering if I really want to go or not. There's no doubt I'd have a good time, but part of the fun of it for me is traveling and rooming with my friends. (Not to mention the overall cost is a factor when it's just me in the room by myself.) I know D. has to consider based on her new job, and if she can't get off that Friday whether or not it's worth it to make the trip for only part of the weekend. And I'm not saying this to pressure you to make a decision one way or the other - but I would appreciate you letting me know once you've decided for sure about your attendance. I'm not even sure when is the last date I could do a transfer of my ticket - providing I could find someone who wanted to buy it - should I opt to back out. But, just wanted to let you know how I was thinking about it. ;)

Well, I feel the same way re: D*C because the fun is in spending it with your friends, even if everyone is into different things! I have already requested the days and if you are still planning on going, I will purchase my ticket (I've waited so long that I am now at the $120 price which is still pretty cheap for a convention. It's just more than I usually pay) I'd like to see the Torchwood crew and maybe find some SPN panels, even though none of the series regulars are going to be there.

I always wonder if there's enough to keep me busy which is absurd because there's ALWAYS stuff to do. It's different every year. I just don't want to purchase a ticket that I can't get rid of if everyone opts out.

Oh, I know I want to do retreat. That is the week of TPHA but I was told the conference ends at noon so plenty of time to head that way.

Glad you're back, too. Ugh, Laundry. It manages to pile up so.

I did watch the first 4 eps of SPN before we left and I have the 2nd disc waiting to be watched.

*bites nails nervously* What did you think? (You know how it is when you recommend something that you want everyone else to be as gaga over as you are even thought that isn't very realistic.)

I know that it is a wee bit different from what I usually go for but it has quickly leapt to the number one spot for me. I am finding that, as a show, it very rarely disappoints with regard to the relationships and to the consequences/fallout from the story. (Despite breaking my heart on a regular basis). For as much as I adore all my other favorites, including Stargate and Merlin, I have always been left wanting a bit more where the principal relationships are concerned. Not to mention the tendency for most shows to hit the reset button a little too readily despite ALL THE STUFF that has happened.

Mostly it just seems pretty scary so far - the relationships haven't really developed much in just 4 eps. It hasn't grabbed me yet, but it is enjoyable and I'll continue watching (at the slow mailing-discs-back-and-forth pace).

Yeah, blood, guts, and gore just doesn't quite scare me, and it only occasionally manages to gross me out. It's the creep factor that gets me and there's some creeptastic stuff coming up.

Actually, I think that first season plays on urban legends, traditional horror stories (with a twist) more so than any other season which makes sense because the mytharc really begins to crank up before the end of the 1st season. But it does lend that feeling of "monster of the week" to the first part of the season one, especially.
