The week in review ;-)
Oct. 13th, 2005 01:25 pmWell, technically, my week off shouldn't be over yet but I managed to trade days so that I could go to Brandon's fall festival tomorrow night. I am working tonight. Over the last week I did manage to accomplish all those house upkeep sort of things but who wants to hear about laundry......(like anything else I have to say is soooo exciting..LOL)
Saturday: I was up at 3am, yes folks, 3am. I suppose that because I had napped a bit on Friday and went to bed at a normal time that this was to be expected. In any case, Brandon and I got an early start with the shopping expedition, part two. I hope he is clothed for the season as with all the road construction, I dislike driving to Clarksville. It seems that it takes hours and hours to get there. But, Brandon is at that age where going to the Mall is fun. I thought that came about later but, once again, I am wrong. I also went ahead with the birthday gift. Eeeek!
Sunday: Church and time spent reading The House Between the Worlds. I loved this book as a teenager and I found that it was just as captivating as an adult. One thing that struck me,though, is the idea that there are many references in this book about which my teenage self would have had no clue. Fenton's reference to Jungian archetypes is one that comes to mind. I mean, sure, those references wouldn't have really impacted the story very much but they do add to the story and the character's perception. It makes me wonder what else I should go dig up to read. Brandon and I also went walking in the rain. We didn't set out in the rain but, fortunately for us, the rain started up when had reached the neighbor's house that is across from my backyard. I decided that I was in the mood, by golly, and was not letting the rain stop me. So, we cut through the neighbor's yard to our own and pulled out those Sea World rain ponchos from the back of my vehicle. Those things have come in handy so many times!
Tuesday: Monday must have really been spent doing nothing as I can't really remember. Had a nice morning walk and then later, Brandon and I had dentist appt's (wheeeeeee..NOT). It had been far too long. I would like to get my teeth whitened, though. Maybe one day if I have some extra money not earmarked for anything else. Later, I dived into the season eight special features which are nice but now I'm a bit miffed. I saw a comparison of what was included in region 2's boxed sets. Grrrrrrrrrr. I don't really understand why they aren't all the same. In any case, I really enjoyed the RDA Beyond the Gate where he was invited to Washington for that Air Force Soiree.
Wednesday: Straight hair be gone! I was tired of my straight do so I got a perm and am pleased with my new do. Had lunch with Mom and spent the evening watching some stuff I had recorded on the DVR but hadn't got around to watching. Troy was one of them. I think this movie got trashed or something all around but I enjoyed it. I really boohooed for Hector, the most good and honorable of the entire lot of them in this movie. Of course, I was really ashamed because I didn't really know what was going to happen next. I'm not too well versed on my Homer epics it would seem as I basically knew names, places, and that there was a wooden Horse in there somewhere...LOL. I never understood how the Trojans could have been taken in by that wooden horse and this movie did nothing toward making it make any sense. Then I had Monty Python Holy Grail flashbacks during that whole part which I am sure was not the director's intention. Then I watched a show called Science of the Bible, which is always pretty interesting to me. This one tried to recreate the life of Jesus as a child/young adult...something not very well fleshed out in The Bible. It was rather fascinating. Then I decided to watch Avalon parts one and two and enjoyed them even more the second time around. That's the thing with Gate, you always seem to gain a different perspective/catch more more with multiple viewings. That really doesn't seem to happen for me with other shows..
There you have it. My exciting week in review....;-)
