Goings on.

I just looked at the date as I began typing and I cannot believe it is already May the 8th!!
Time really does seem to speed up as you get older. Except of course when you are working..LOL. But, actually, I can't complain as this weekend had some busy times, especially Saturday night, but no high drama for which I am thankful. I came home this morning determined to not sleep very much. Last time I was off my sleeping habits were awful with me either being awake till 3am or waking up in the wee hours and not being able to go back to sleep. I always sleep less on the day I work off in order to flip but it really hadn't been working very well so I figured that I needed to sleep even less.

On the way home, I was waylaid for over 40 minutes because of a wreck they were still working and cleaning up so I just turned off the car and read a bit more of Time Traveler's Wife. This novel is very good and I highly recommend it to everyone on my f-list.  Then, I did manage to get in a workout and grocery shopping followed by someone coming to take a look at my roof where I have one of those slow leaks. I hope it is fixed! Then I ran out of things to do and had to go to sleep a little bit. The key to staying awake is having something to do and once that is no longer possible I pretty much have to go to sleep.

This room is rather devastated at the moment as I had to empty a closet to enable the worker to climb into the attic. I really wish I had better access other than this tiny square located in a closet. My son has just discovered it and is currently entertaining himself by climbing up there. "Why didn't you tell me we had an attic?", he says as though I am keeping state secrets from him. He is such a nut. He has recently got his hair highlighted after begging me for months to let him do it. "We'll see" only has so much life as a response. It looks really good and, strangely, makes me even more aware of how close he is to the dreaded teen years. Another inch and he will be as tall as me! (which isn't really saying much but there you are). Recently, he saved his allowance to buy a pair of shoes! LOL. Last night I saw an 11 year old in the ER who is in the same grade as Brandon although Brandon is twice a big as this kid. I asked him if he knew Brandon. His reply, "Oh, he's the one with the Etnies." It's all about the shoes, baby!

I was also proud of Brandon's performance in the church play where he was Jesus at 12 (lol...imagining Jesus asking Mary if he could pleeeeeaaaassssseeee get some highlights in his hair). I didn't get to see the final play, but I did watch one of the last rehearsals and thought Brandon did a really good job with his lines! I also made a vid for it.  We have this huge projection screen that they can run from a small control room/computers in the back. (My church has gone a little high tech!) My sister told me what they wanted and told me the song that was being used and even though someone was actually going to be singing the song, they also had a CD version. Well, I jumped in to that project and was very pleased with my results only to discover that my sister had given me the wrong song! They really liked the vid and decided to use it anyway but I was bummed because I knew the timing was probably going to be completely off and the song sis gave me was much shorter than the song they wanted. In any case, I was thinking it was going to be a complete disaster and cringed during practice when the vid came up on the screen. Amazingly enough, all of the edits and action worked well with the different song and they got around the time issue by pausing and then facing the audience during the rest of the song.  I didn't see the final production but I am told that it all went very well and that Brandon did a terrific job.

I normally don't talk about dieting and whatnot because, really, when am I not trying to lose weight. It's mostly a lesson in futility but, lately, I have been doing nutrisystem and have been adhering to it pretty well. There is no thinking and endless calculations involved so I really like that about it. Plus, suprisingly, the food is really good. In any case, I have actually lost 6-7 pounds and even more inches. I went clothes shopping and grabbed my usual size because I thought, "it's only been a few lbs." I had to put all my tryons back and grab a smaller size!! A suprising wheeeeeeee. Of course, most normal people by this point would have lost 15 or more lbs but I am trying to accept the fact that it is never going to just melt away and be satisfied with my small successes.  My new schedule has really enabled me to be more consistent with the exercise as I am able to get in 3-4 walks and/or workouts a week which has been a real help as well. Today, however, the premenstrual eat-a-thon has begun. I have been fighting it all week so I thought I'd just cave today and head back into the battle tomorrow...LOL!

Well, that about sums up my goings on, such that they are. Season one of Scrubs has arrived via Netflix so I think I will tune into that this evening. I decided to alternate a bit in my queue plus this show is terrific. I don't watch comedies very often. If I am channel surfing and come across something that looks interesting, I might continue watching. Rarely, if ever, do I set out to watch/record a comedy series. I think that really says a great deal about the quality and the hilarity of this show!!! Plus, that Zach Braff is such a cutie pie! LOL!!
