Various and Sundry.
Jun. 23rd, 2006 01:06 pmBrandon is packed and ready for camp. I had to make sure it was done today as I knew there would be no time when I am working. But, I have my own little countdown going...two more weekends till vacation!!! Yippy!
We managed to get to the pool yesterday and since I have been trying to work out a way to manage a workout on a pool day, I decided to walk when I got there before ever going in. Brandon is old enough to go into the pool by himself. He can swim well and there are lifeguards and such. When we were kids, the local pool, which is now gone, was our babysitter...LOL. Mom would drop us off in the morning when it opened and as she was going to work and Dad would pick is up on his way home from work.
I love summer, even if it is 90 degrees.
Anyway, I have been having some problems with my ankles when I walk. I had this problem at first and then it went away. I thought it was gone for good but for the last couple of days, they are hurting again when I walk. I think it is a nerve impingement sort of thing because the pain is followed by some numbness when I just keep on going and some burning when I turn my lower leg/ankle a certain way. I think I am going to start taking an NSAID an hour before I go and see if that solves the problem. Most of the time I ignore the fact that I am getting pretty close to 40. FORTY!! After all, I don't feel that I am almost 40. I don't suspect that I act my age either. But, there has to be some repercussions to getting older...well besides those gray hairs and fine lines that will eventually turn into craters.....LOL.
We had a nice surprise at the pool when we ran into my friend, Amanda. Back when I lived in Clarksville, we were neighbors and her son, Adam, was Brandon's age. He really was Brandon's first friend. Anyway, we managed to stay in touch even after I moved back to Dover and only lost touch when she moved to Northern Kentucky. I had talked to her once and knew that she had moved back to Paris and that she actually lived pretty close to Paris Landing (location of the pool) but we really hadn't had the chance to get together. It had been several years since I had seen Adam but I thought I recognized him at the pool. I told Brandon to go see if it was Adam and that conversation was actually pretty fun to listen to.
B: "Hey, are you Adam?"
A: "Yeah"
B: "Is your Mom Amanda?"
A: "Yes, who are you?"
B: "I'm Brandon"
A: (that moment of recognition) "From Clarksville!"
I love it when "old" friends reconnect...LOL! Anyway, she invited us to her new home for dinner and all of us acted like we hadn't just seen one another after many years. I did LOL at her cabinets. The whole family is pretty tall...she is actually 6' 2" and Adam is already 5'9". Her husband is tall and, if her height now is any indication, her youngest daughter is also going to be pretty tall. They had the kitchen cabinets adjusted accordingly. Her kitchen counter is pretty high. Practically at the level of my axilla...LOL. I fell out laughing imagining how I must look against those cabinets. Hopefully we will all have the opportunity to get together more often over the summer.
