Finally home.....
Jul. 13th, 2006 04:34 pmI made it home....finally! (12 hours after the original scheduled time) I had a wonderful time in Toronto and Halifax but getting home was terrible. Remind me never to make a connection at Newark, NJ EVER, EVER again. Also remind me never to fly continental!
After being delayed in Newark for three hours, we boarded the plane only to spend two hours on the runway because of a thunderstorm. THEN, the crew's duty time was up and we just headed back to the gate only to have the whole flight cancelled. Then, after waiting in line with several unhappy passengers, the customer service desk closed. I was finally in the first row when this happened after standing in line forever. It was about two am at this point. So, I called Continental and got on standby for a flight leaving at 6:50 am and, if that didn't work, I'd have to get home via a connection through Cleveland, OH and arrive at 1755 in the afternoon. Fortunately, several people didn't make the early flight because I think there were about 15 of us on standby for this one flight and many got on, including myself. Spending a night in an airport sucks, especially a cold one.
Oh yeah, none of my luggage made it back to Tennessee with me. Imagine that!
But,
scarym1 and I had a great time! More on that later..........
