Happy New Year!!
Jan. 2nd, 2008 10:07 am Happy Belated New Year's Greetings to everyone on my F-list. Since I had to work both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, this is the first opportunity I have had to send greetings.
I had a very nice holiday, despite my work schedule and the trips to the garage. This time my windshield wipers quit working on two different occasions and in the pouring rain, no less. Hopefully they have been repaired for good but it set me back a bit. Add to that the fact that my Heating and Air unit is in its death throes. It was all enough for me to finally get on over to the bank for some home improvement financial wrangling. I have been wanting to do some projects for awhile but did not want to extend the time, effort, and money to get it all started. But, you have to have heat and it's pretty cold outside and aux heat is going to cost me a fortune on my electric bill so something had to be done. Now I am all excited about putting in wood floors and the possibility of a master bathroom addition and a garage. I have someone coming this evening to give me an estimate and I am hopeful that I will be able to just do it all now as opposed to doing it in spurts. We'll see.
Doing this will also enable me to not put off taking a class yet again, though I am not overjoyed at the idea of putting my nose back to the study grindstone. Blech.
Last Friday, I did something that I haven't done in years! Brandon went to a friends house and after I had run all my errands for the day, I came home, plopped down on the couch and read The ENTIRE day and managed to do so GUILT free. It was wonderful and I hope to repeat it again. Maybe I can make it a once monthly occasion.
It looks as though our hospital has a buyer. The process has begun so, hopefully, things will be looking up on that front. I have heard that what you do on New Year's day will be what you will be doing all year. I spent New Year's Day in the ER with a buttload of crazy people. I actually had very few "normal" patients. Seriously, I wondered at the lack of full moon to explain this event. I need a little mini vacation in the worst way and am looking forward to President's Day weekend when I am taking off work and heading out of town. Really, I haven't had time off since Dragon*Con. When you work 3days/12-hour shifts, there comes a prevailing attitude from some family and friends that you don't really have a full time job. LOL, I would have gladly invited them to spend time with me on New Year's Day.
Today, the tree comes down. I know,
dm_lunsford, I was going to wait till the 6th but I just cannot stand it any longer. It takes up too much space. When I take the tree down, I always feel as though I have added on to my living room. I'll leave all the wintry, snowman stuff out. That way, taking down the decorations isn't an overwhelming task. Brandon has a friend coming over. LOL, I'll put them both to work!!
