I have been so very busy! It seems that this is the week where I catch up on all those things I have been putting off. I'll have to go back to work to get a break...LOL!

Brandon and I hadn't had a day out in a while so I took him to see King Kong. It was better than I expected since I had no desire going in to see it. Of course, I boo hooed and blubbered throughout the ending. I hate leaving the theater with puffy, red eyes. Brandon didn't shed a tear. Why do males have this incredible ability to not cry...LOL. He loved it, though, but I suspect it was the dinosaur chases, fights, and men being eaten whole by gigantic earthworms (or whatever they were). Humm...should I have issued a spoiler alert for that. Sorry.

Monday, I took my car in for a checkup and oil change. It's all good except that I really need two new tires. But, they rotated them to the back so perhaps I can stretch them a little longer. I hate spending money on such things. I much prefer more frivolous purchases..LOL. Then I went Krogering..teeheehee. I made a quick stop at Lowes first and actually managed to get out of there without starting a new home improvement project. I went to purchase room darkening shades and that is what I left with. GO ME! Of course, I was wrong about what I needed to install them but, not to be deterred, I ripped them off the roller and STAPLED THEM to the sheer curtain panels I have. It actually worked better than it sounds and you can't see the staples...LOL.

Today was my yearly visit to the doc to get my thyroid checked. I swear, if I didn't have to do this every year, it is unlikely that I would ever visit a doctor. I know, strange profession I have chosen, but, it isn't the same when I am the patient. I am always uncomfortable...even when I happen to work with the doctor on a daily basis. I have no idea where all my hangups come from...LOL. Then I met my Mom for lunch so she could tell be about her latest date. Hey, someone has to have a social life and it sure isn't me. Living vicariously? It's the story of my life!! I went to the library afterwards. Tomorrow I get my taxes done and Thursday is cover up the gray hair day and then Friday will be back to work again. It always goes by so quickly!

On a sci-fi note, I really enjoyed all of Sci-Fi Friday. I think I actually enjoyed Stronghold more than Ripple Effect, if you can believe that. Maybe it was because I didn't really expect to. Call me gullible, by I actually got a wee bit misty eyed with the Mitchell B story. Plus Baal proved once again why he is the Best. Goauld. Ever. I also enjoyed Grace Under Pressure once they got past McKay being over the top. Don't get me wrong, I really like McKay but sometimes I just want to shut him up. Which is the point, I suppose. And, Galactica! Don't get me started on how much I am enjoying angsty! Lee. It's about time they really delved into this character.

I did take in Swarmed which was an extremely predictable B movie that I would never have watched except for my love of Michael Shanks..LOL. Brandon watched with me. He couldn't figure out how I knew what was going to happen next. Someday, he will understand. He said MS was pretty good. High praise from my anti Stargate son.

check ups and staples ; )

I should be really making an appointment for my annual check up. I hate going to the doctor. My doctor said last year that since I am now in my 40's I should start getting Mammograms. Oh the joy of being a woman!! ; )

I have a funny story regarding staples. When I first move in here 2 years ago there wasn't any curtains on the window. So Matthew just threw together a quick set. The material was too long and he didn't want to sew it so he just stapled the hem together. Men!! : )

Matthew was making new ones for the spare room so he made a new set for me as well. Well actually my friend Gwen came over to sew them for Us.

I liked Stronghold as well. I like that we are really getting to know Mitchell.

I thought Grace Under Pressure was awesome too. The rest of S2 is Great.

The Atlantis season finale aired here last night. WOW!!!!

My, aren't you getting a lot done! So what did you get at the library? And how was your thyroid?

Ha, the number of really appalling movies I've seen just because of my obsession with this or that actor... Bruxe Boxleitner seems to act in nothing *but* appalling movies, for example, but I can't seem to stop myself :-)

Hummmm...I have a few curtains that are too long but for awhile there, that was the "style". It bugs me when I go to vacuum. But, I suppose you could see those staples...LOL. I thought for a second there that Matthew had given me an idea!

So what did you get at the library?

Well, that Puccini CD I am trying to like for starters. I also checked out Pride and Prejudice since you lot are so into it. I figured I would reread that since I haven't read it since high school. I am not very far as of yet but, so far, my favorite character is Mr. Bennett. He has me ROFL! I am sure I didn't have that response when I was 17. The other book I checked out is a fantasy novel of some sort. (I liked the dust jacket). When I got there I kept trying to remember anyone's recent recommendations but I couldn't. I should keep a list or something to take with me.

As for my TSH (thyroid test), I haven't heard anything but I don't expect to since I have been on the same dosage of Synthroid forever and ever.

I am SO there with you. (Not necessarily with Bruce Boxleitner though I so loved him in B5)

I'm glad you're re-liking P&P. I think it's a great book for getting different things out of at different times of life. I expect someday, when the boys get in their 20's, I'll relate the most to Mrs Bennett. (!)

Remember I have the mini if you want to watch!

Well, my thing for Burce reaches back to "Scarecrow and Mrs. King". Not the hottest guy these day, but he's cute :-) And yes, totally gorgeous on B5.
