gateslacker: (toast)

This morning hasn't seen the best study habits! I am totally wasting study time by transferring files to the lapdog, which I intend to make my primary vid editing computer, and reading LJ. It is the perfect day for slovenly behavior as all I see is rain, rain, rain. The morning isn't a total bust, however, as I am in laundry mode.

Yesterday, I was way more productive, making a great deal of headway in the enormous amount of reading that is required. I really love pathophysiology  but I absolutely dislike the instructor. She has to be the worst instructor I have ever had in my entire life, and for those of you who know me and just how many classes I have taken over the years, that is saying a lot!  Her feedback, what little there is, is awful and not really beneficial to knowing what we need to do regarding assignments or explaining how she had deemed one answer correct on the test and something else entirely in her notes. She believes that the word "moves" is the same as the word "converts" and has demonstrated that she has all the linguistic skills of a chimpanzee, which is surprising considering that she has a PhD. I have decided to pretend she doesn't exist despite the fact that she is responsible for my grade. A strange approach, I am sure. I had been warned from another person who took this class that her test questions seemed to come out of left field and didn't reflect the material in the notes, book, or lecture. What I have seen on the quizzes for the most part is the questions usually reflect what is in the notes/book but that her horrible wording invites confusion, her answers deemed correct are exactly opposite of what she has in her notes, and, occasionally, her questions  reflect information not actually covered. I am sure it all sounds like sour grapes on my part but I really haven't done badly. I just should have done better as I am reading ALL of the material and I feel that I know the material better than my missed answers would suggest. Friday, the  whole truth will be revealed when I take the first exam (four hours).

I am loving my aerobics class and wish I could attend the Thursday class as well. My sister played hookey yesterday but I went anyway as I had been looking forward to it all day. I wish I could have the class twice weekly and do my usual walk twice weekly. My nursing supervisor asked me a couple of weeks ago if I would be willing to do some sort of write up on what is going on in the hospital, such as new CT scanner, new programs, etc, for the website or local paper. (I have helped her with her papers in the past)Sunday, when I should have been totally immersed in the sermon, I kept getting distracted by some ideas. I came home and typed up a rough draft and sent it to her. She loved it but who knows what TPTB will say as I was pretty cheeky in my writing. Nothing is likely to come of it since they are always throwing ideas out there and often nothing ever comes of them. In any case, I took the initiative and, hopefully, that will reflect well on me regardless if anything ever comes of it. It seems that I am volunteering for stuff all over the place. (Like I need anything else to do!!)

Tomorrow is Brandon's spelling bee. I am probably going to be more nervous than he is. He asked me if I would be upset if he spells a word wrong. I told him I was just proud that he was one of those chosen! He does seem to have a memory for words because when we were practicing, he would say that he remembered seeing that word somewhere. I said to him, "imagine how many words you could spell if you ever actually read a book". LOL!

I am extremely excited about my trip this weekend to Missouri.  [profile] de23  and I will be traveling together and will meet up with  [personal profile] soniag and several others.  It will be nice to get away and visit with friends.                                                  [Bad username or unknown identity:   ]
