Sep. 19th, 2007 03:03 pmIt is the middle of September. I have no classes this semester and I still have NO TIME. What happened to the days where I had the time to vid and chat online and read scads of fanfic. I have always worked full time so what's the deal! LOL
In any case, I am quite excited. My modem would not work last night despite any and all of my troubleshooting so I had to call Bellsouth or the new AT&T or whatever the heck they were. His troubleshooting didn't work either and he said that he would send a tech out to investigate. However, right after I got off the phone, it came back up. I was going to cancel but I had a Nurse's meeting this morning and knew I had to work out after and never got around to cancelling it. When the guy called I told him that it was working but he said he'd come check it out anyway. While he was here, I demonstrated my weird technique of turning the phone on when it went down, waiting to hear the static that happened when the little blinking light on the DSL went solid and indicated that my internet was back online. I told him it has been a thorn in my side since I installed it but that, since I have been able to do my turn the phone on trick, I haven't had to call until last pm. Of course, he asked if I had the filters on all the phone lines, which I do. Well, he tested my speed and it appears that I haven't been getting nearly what I should, which explains why all those streaming video things stop and start for me, despite my added RAM. He went outside and did some testing there and noticed then stated that I didn't tell him about my alarm system. I said I forget about it because I rarely turn it on (silly, I know but one, I have never known what to do about the cat possible setting it off when it's in away mode and two, having been awakened from a dead sleep one day because a storm blew my front door open I actually fear the sound of it going off more than a break in itself...ROFL.) But, despite the fact that it isn't armed 90% of the time it still is hooked into a phone line. He went outside and installed an external phone line filter and, viola, I will hopefully no longer endure it going offline all the time and NOW I am way faster and I can watch a streaming video feed without fits and starts. Wheeeeeee.
And to think, all this time, I only thought I had high speed internet. ROFL. And, because I have the inside wire maintenance, this little visit didn't cost me a thing. Another funny little tidbit: I was throwing some laundry into the washer (I LOVE this new front loading washer. Love it, Love it, Love it) and I heard him talking to someone and just assumed he was talking on his phone. However, it turns out it was my quirky, nosy neighbor who was telling the repair guy that this is number three....He's obviously not counting Brandon's arm as number three since it isn't an appliance. I really don't need an alarm system with my neighbor, do I?
Maybe my luck's a changing.

Amazing how much better it works when you filter the alarm system! :)
Enjoy all your videoing. (Apparently, FireFox thinks this is an actual word, videoing.) And may you find all of your lost time.

I would LOVE a new washer and dryer. I'm jealous!
