Wierd Week
Feb. 6th, 2008 08:59 amLast week was a very weird week in a sort of quasi stressful sort of way.
Sunday as I was walking, I came out of a clearing into the park and there was a dog there. I haven't had very good experiences with dogs so I was pretty alarmed until the dog rolled over at my feet to have her stomach petted. So, I continued my walk and she went with me. When I came back around to that spot I noticed something that I didn't notice before as in a huge bag of dog food propped against the tree with some poured out on the ground. I felt so bad for her, that someone had dropped her at the park, that I picked up the dog food and brought her home with me, no easy feat since I still had about a mile to go before I got home..LOL! I called Brandon and had him meet me half way. He named her Sammie. (No stargate reference here as he has never given in to it..LOL). Of course, in my neighborhood, dogs have to be kept in owners yards and being inside is not an option, though I did briefly try that before realizing it would be a no go. So, I will be spending some money either on regular or electronic fencing but not until I take her to the vet tomorrow. I still have spent some money with regard to tie outs, collars, and a dog house she refuses to enter. She seems puppy like but looks too big to still be a puppy. I sure hope she isn't preggers.
Monday, the drunk driver was parolled. I wasn't there as I was at work. This bothers me very little as it doesn't change the circumstances. Brandon wanted to go with Mom and Joyce and I let them. It didn't seem to bother him either and he made fast friends with the man's daughter and her family after it was all over.
Tuesday, Brandon had the puking disease that Brianna had passed to everyone. (Mom and Sis had it the very same day Brandon did) and I still went to work because of all the drama involved in this whole call thing. I didn't want to add feul to the fire by calling in but in retrospect, not calling in was a mistake. I had the PA in the ER give me a script for Phenergan, went and had it filled, took it home to Joyce who came over and stayed with him, and came back to work. (I live 21 miles from work). I was able to do this because I was orienting a new PRN nurse and she had had several days so that I could leave her. I doubt my boss would have let me do all of this otherwise. Call, and what I am going to do about it is the primary topic on my mind. I am not alone as it is all my co-workers and I talk about.
Funny, I don't even remember what I did Wednesday...LOL. Oh yeah, I was sick of the straight, even if it is the going style, and went for a poodle-do. So far, the general concensus is positive. For me, it depends on the day.
Thursday, we had snow and I was late for work. I waited till I could at least see the roads before going in because the road I travel is a bad one on a good day. It has alot of deep bluffs and there is always the river. If I go off the road it wouldn't be very pretty! When I get there, there is the CNO and another RN doing the job they expect me to do by myself every day. Predictably, they magically disappear when I get there.
Friday, there was no school and after both of us getting our yearly TSH tested for our thyroid problems, Brandon and I head to the movies. We watch Meet the Spartans. (Yes, I have a 13 year old son) It probably was more of a rent at home sort of thing but I admit to laughing out loud in several spots, such as the Spartans and the Persians meeting one another for battle in a Stomp the Yard fashion. The movie also featured Kevin Sorbo, who I have never seen in a comedic role period, much less one of this variety. Then it was on to Lowe's. Though we didn't find Brandon's chosen paint color for his room (electric lime!), I did find some wall decals that, coupled with the paint color, will definitely create a retro room for Brandon. He was off to the bathroom when I found these cool decals and I waited and waited. Finally, I went looking for him. He had found some friends he wanted me to meet and, awkwardly enough, it was the daughter and her family he met at the parole hearing on Monday. They were very nice and thought Brandon was a wonderful kid. He was certainly chatty with them covering everything from my new poodle-do to the movie outing to our home improvement activities. I chatted for a few moments though I couldn't wait to get away because of the whole surreal awkwardness surrounding the situation.
Saturday I met up with
dm_lunsfordand
de23for a few hours of socializing and TV viewing, all Gate related, of course. We got to view some of the extras on the latest complete Stargate set that my friend
de23got for Christmas. (You know, the ones that should be included in a separate disc for people who have bought each season individually over the last 10 years! No, I'm not bitter)
Early Sunday am, my brother's wife had an MVA whereby she took out several electric poles, a dropbox, and business windows in front of the local post office. She was driving way too fast which is weird because she is usually the responsible one. I think one of my brother's friends teased her stating that she "couldn't handle a car like this" Well, I suppose she proved him right as the car was demolished and it is a miracle that she and her two passengers weren't killed, instead of walking away with bruises and sprains.
So far, this week hasn't been nearly as weird.
