Happy Birthdays and being totally LOST
May. 29th, 2008 10:32 pmHappy, Happy Birthday to
dm_lunsfordand
soniag. As I am behind on birthday pressies, I'll throw some confetti for now.
de23gets extra confetti because I am super way late. Where did the month go? With time and age comes an increasing inability to multi task.
And, Lost, you have totally amazed and confounded and astounded me tonight. So many gasps! So many answers! But you didn't give it all away! More questions. I love and hate season finales. When will the show come back, 2010? Curse these interminable hiatuses. It would appear that some of my guesses about the nature of the island may be on track but that is only a eensy teensy piece of the puzzle. My brain can't handle it all and is caught up in a synaptic crossfire. My head may well and truly explode!!! Spoilers below...........................

........................................................................................................................................................................................
After the wonderful reunion between Desmond and Penny, I feared that he would be in the casket. Then, I saw the name and thought, No, it's Ben (since Ben was in the name....I'm clever like that *snort*), but then he showed up after Jack broke into the funeral parlor. I don't much like seedy Jack. Nope, not at all. It is too painful. But the corpse was Locke. LOCKE!!! Even though I thought it might be Locke at the beginning of the season, because I thought he had the most to lose if they left the island, I was still shocked because, as the season has progressed, it became more likely that Locke would never leave even if he had the opportunity to do so. Soooo, even though I suspected it initially, I STILL didn't see it coming. (See what this show does to you!!!) It makes some sense that everything fell apart when Jack left. The island needs both faith (Locke) and reason (Jack) it would appear. They have always been opposite sides of the same coin. What that says about Ben, and even the other main characters, I haven't a real clue. For awhile I thought those who died or disappeared were those who had reached a measure of understanding, redeemed themselves, or faced their own demons but that really doesn't explain all the "deaths" on the island, especially over the last few eps where the body count kept rising.
And that's just it. Who can guess with so many complex mysteries and twisted relationships.
Some questions. Just who is that guy who told Micheal he can go? He is ageless. Could he be Jacob? Who or what is Jacob? Is Jacob the island?
Who is the redhead who is trying to get back...and seemingly does not know it?
What happened to those in the boat between the freighter and the island. Did they "move" with the island?
How does Daniel know more than he should when he doesn't appear to be in the loop with Whetmore's men and does not seem to have ever set foot on the island? He knew about about The Orchid and Whetmore's (Whedmore?) plan B...whatever it as called? How would Desmond remain incognito when he's with Whetmore's daughter, Penny?
Mixed messages, Claire in the dream warning Kate to not go back even though she seems to be a part of the forces of the island since her disappearance (death), along with Dad who keeps showing up. Yet, the warning that all will be lost if they don't? My memory is hazy but wasn't Claire's Mom in a coma? She recovered and had time to spare to attend Jack's Father's memorial, and to drop that little bombshell on Jack.
I think I have decided that I love Sawyer more than Jack. Sorry, Jack. Sawyer manages to maintain his bad boy, smart ass charm during his hero turn. Beats Seedy, Desperate Jack hands down. Never fear, though, I am sure I will waffle yet again when you cut that shaggy hair and pull yourself together. Jack does understated, stoic angst so much better! And what did Sawyer whisper to Kate before he jumped out of the helicoptor?
What is the significance of Hurley playing chess with Mr. Echo? Was it just to reiterate that Hurley sees dead people or is it something more?
I had forgotten Hurley's numbers. What do they mean?
Why do they all have to go back?
What is Sun up to? Are Jin and Micheal dead?
And lead militant guy gunning for Ben, the one who used to be Zipacna on SG-1 , strangely resembles my dearly departed hubby. Weird! I didn't get that vibe when he was Zipacna probably because of that that huge bowl of fruit he carried about on his head. (Or something like that.....I should really rewatch Pretense and find out.)
Which reminds me of that spectacular fight scene between Used-to-be Zipanca and Sayid. Wow!!
Ack, my battery is about to die. I gotta run before my post is lost!!! ;-)

Date: 2008-05-30 12:32 pm (UTC)Nancy is the smart one here, She guessed right after Walt visited Hurley that Jeremy Bentham was John Locke. She said it just made sense to her that if John got off the island he would have to go by another name. She said that she thinks both John and Jeremy are names of philosophers. The last few minutes of the ep had us on the edge of the seats waiting for the big reveal of who was in the coffin. I almost died when Ben said they had to take John's body with them back to the island. Ewwww.
I thought the same thing that the island needs both reason and faith.
I love Sawyer too. He is so hot. Nancy, didn't I tell you she was the smart one, said that Sawyer whispered for Kate to check in on his kid. Which, in the future clips, was the favor Kate did for Sawyer that got Jack so mad that they broke up.
What I want to know is the since Jack knows that Aaron is his nephew, did he tell Kate? I get the feeling that he didn't. What the hell does Jack's father have to do with all this? Why did he show up in the cabin with claire and tell Locke to move the island?
Too many questions but I just love it. : )

Date: 2008-05-31 07:06 pm (UTC)I think that Jack's father's body was on the plane and that is how he keeps showing up which leads me to suspect that if Locke is dead, that he will also show up once he gets back to the island.
I love it, too, but it irritates me that I will forget much and not be nearly as interested by the time it all comes back.
