Happy 4th, everyone.

I hope everyone has a great day. I am fortunate to be off, though not the whole weekend. I'll probably head to the pool today if it doesn't rain.

I managed to get the new phone, intact, though I had to leave Sammie on a chain for part of a day. I had hoped it would have arrived before I left yesterday so I wouldn't have to do that. I still can't believe they sent me a new phone for free.

I am still plodding through The Historian and I wonder why I don't just give it up. The author is very descriptive. I can see the people and places she is describing but it is too much. It's too much telling what has happened/is happening and not enough of letting the events unfold for themselves. I can appreciate her rich descriptions...I almost feel as though I am reading a travel guide or a history book...but the story suffers, I think.

Doctor Who has been amazing thus far and it was nice to see Alex Kingston. I am really interested in that backstory but I wonder if we will ever know? I had my doubts about Donna, initially, but I am loving her. I am looking forward to Atlantis since the only shows I am watching at the moment, aside from my usual HGTV fare, is Doctor Who and That Mitchell and Webb Look.  I also finished watching Slings and Arrows[personal profile] soniagloaned them to me ages ago but when I finally started watching, I couldn't stop and burned through the whole series in about 4 non-consecutive days. I was disappointed to learn that there wasn't more out there, being filmed.  I also recently finished The Forsyte Saga.  If it wasn't for loaners and Netflix, I don't know what I would be watching...LOL.

I was skimming The Historian in the second half. It really needed to be edited down, IMO.

So glad you enjoyed SLINGS AND ARROWS! I hate to think we won't see those characters again. I love them so.

I was guilting over having your Farscape DVDs and so I watched two episodes the other day. It's just not clicking for me yet. Maybe I'm not in the right mood? I hate to keep them so long.

Yes! It may be a slim hope, but it would be terrific to see more. Don't guilt over the Farscape DVD's. I think I began clicking by the end of the first season. I think you might click when the ship begins. Or it might just not be your cup of tea.

As for The Historian, maybe it's just that I am not all that into the Dracula legends. I don't know but I agree about the editing.

Can I have Slings and Arrows next? Don't know when I'll watch them, but if there's no rush . . .

Glad you got your phone. I'm loving Donna too!

I think you are next on the list, right? I will bring them when we get together next.

I have Torchwood on DVD and I haven't even opened the package!

I am glad your cell phone saga has a happy ending. : )

So Dr. Who is good? I still haven't gotten around to dling it. I will probably end up waiting for CBC to air it probably later this fall.

I loved the first season of Slings and Arrows. Paul Gross is awesome. I never got around to watching the rest. I could never find out when it aired.

I feel the same way about Guy Gavrial Kay's "The Last Light of The Sun" as you do about "The Historian". I really loved his other novels so I am carrying on with this one.

One of my fave new shows is on HGTV, the Canadian channel. Have you ever heard of "COLIN & JUSTIN'S HOME HEIST"? Those guys just kill me. They are so hilarious and blunt in accessing the home decor of the people who are chosen to have their home's re done.

Doctor Who has been terrific and maybe you can find a way to rent Slings and Arrows. As for HGTV, I see alot of Canadian shows or Canadian hosts (I can always tell when they say the word house..LOL) but I don't think I have ever seen that particular show. Of course, that doesn't mean that it's not on there because I record all the eps I like to watch (House Hunters, Design on a Dime, Decorating Cents, Property Virgins...you see I am truly addicted to HGTV..LOL!) and skip the commercials. It might be that I never see an advert.

BTW, isn't Shore Leave coming soon? I lost track of the time. I can't wait to live vicariously though you. I also wish you were coming to D*C. I got the magazines in the mail today. DSD's blurb is in there because I am sure they were printed before his death. It made me sad.

Love the Stargate/Tardis Icon.

It is funny why I even discovered that show on HGTV. I have never been one for interior decorating. I think it was during the writer's strike and I was so desperately for something to watch. I love the humor on it and I am even learning a thing or two. :)

I am leaving this thursday for ShoreLeave!!!! It is so hard to concentrate on my work today. ; ) I wish I could afford D*C. If I didn't eat and had a free place to stay then maybe. ; ) I am going to be living vicariously thru you guys for it. I hope you take lots of pics and video.

I hope D*C has some kind of memorial for Don.
