This N' That

Except for the huge mega comprehensive assessment video, that can't exceed two hours (TWO HOURS?!?), I have completed the sectional videos. Tonight's was harder for me and also longer. It did exceed the 20 min time limit by 48 secs. I hope she accepts it. Musculoskeletal has always been a snoozefest for me and not my thing. I don't know if I have ever actually mentioned my thing (Cardiovascular with pulmonary running a close second. I never get tired of learning about the heart.)  I have always been fascinated by the brain/brain disoders but not in a way that makes me ever want to work in neurology or psychology. I love reading or watching programs about genetics/genetic disorders but not enough that I could ever see myself doing tedious research. Pregnancy and fetal development were way awesome before Gateway soured the whole thing for me forever.

I digress... I am sure Brandon is super thrilled that he won't be my video subject for awhile. He actually missed the last football game because of it. Here's how the conversation went.

B: (in his usual last minute fashion)- I want to go the the game tonight.
Me: (because of my typical last minute, gotta get this done tonight  in order to mail tomorrow)- You can't! I have to videotape you tonight.

Yep, it's a good thing no one overheard that conversation. I made it up to him.

Fortunately, the comprehensive isn't due until the end of November which is really good. My weekly written assignments will also slow down to bi-weekly until the end of November. Yay! I'll still have a weekly test or quiz but it is going to slow down. YAY!

The slow down is a very good thing because I am going on a mission trip to Haiti.  This trip planning actually started last year but, as time went on, I didn't really think I would have the vacation time available and I backed out. It seems that the number of folks planning kept dwindling until only the pastor was left. He asked me again if I was interested and I told him that the vacation time was an issue for me. He then said that he could  tweak the dates and now I am going. My brother-in-law might be going too if he can get his passport in time. I'll be leaving two weeks from today and I am getting excited and more than a little nervous. But, good grief the flight leaves at 6:15!  I EEEEK! have never booked a flight that early (because I really despise getting up at 3am) but I can see why it is beneficial to arrive during the day.

I am posting these literal video links that [livejournal.com profile] de23 posted today for those who may not have seen them. I was literally LOL here in my little office so I had to share the fun. Here are the links to "Head Over Heels" and "Take On Me". I think growing up in the 80's made them even funnier. Brandon didn't seem to get the hilarity quite as much.

I haven't really had much time to do much TV discussion, nevermind that I have yet to watch last week's Atlantis. It just occured to me that I am only watching Atlantis, Sanctuary, and Heroes at the moment (aside from my intermittent forays into HGTV, Mystery Diagnosis, and a bit of this and that from Science and Natgeo) That's pretty amazing for me. Netflix is getting all my money for nothing at the moment. [livejournal.com profile] scarym1 , are you watching Heroes because they are certainly shaking things up this season. I'm not happy with where they are taking Suresh but Sylar is totally wow-ing me. I thought it very interesting when he was paired  with Noah. How could they revive Adam Monroe just so that Peter, Nathan, and Syler's baddie father could kill him?  Waa...I liked him and it certainly appear that he can't come back from this one.  It seems that we know where Peter and Syler get their abilities, eh? (At first I thought that Sylar was an illegitimate son of Angela Petrelli's until their father showed up with his abilities.) I already mentioned how I dislike the Suresh storyline but at least he did take care of the irritating Mya...LOL. I don't think the actor playing Peter does villainy very well. Anyhoo, as usual, I can't wait to see what happens next

I think that covers it for the moment, mainly because LJ cut has decided everything else must also be in the cut and I can't make it stop. Sometimes, it has a mind of its own.

::sniff:: I miss Suresh. I miss nice Suresh with the nice body! LOL

And no, Adam is not coming back. Confirmed by Watch with Kristin. But it makes a very effective point that Claire can die. She can die pretty quickly, thanks to her Grandpa Petrelli.

I'm also enjoying the Sylar storyline. It's the equivalent of dealing with addiction recovery and that's always interesting to me. Peter, though? I'm kinda glad he's been stripped of his powers. It'll be good to reboot him, as it were.

I know! I really miss lovable, sexy Suresh. He needs curing, I say! You are right about Peter. I think it was his angst and feeling that there was more that really sucked me in in the first place. I'm gonna like seeing him back to square one and at least he got rid of the Sylar craving this way.

Is there really a character on Heroes named "Suresh"? Is he Indian? I was just shocked because the president of my library association is named Suresh. He's from India and is a very nice man, but definitely not what you would call "sexy Suresh"!

Mission trip to Haiti - how cool is that! I look forward to hearing all about it.

And yay for school slowing down a wee bit.

I can't believe it is only two weeks away. I feel all unprepared.

As for school, I still have the same amount of study and reading but at least the assignments won't be nearly as stressful! Performing for a video camera is almost as awkward as a public performance.

WOW, Haiti. That is incredible. How long are you going for and what will you be doing?

I haven't been watching Heroes. It conflicts with another show I watch. I did tape the Heroes premiere but it just didn't grab me like last season.

Oh, girl, you need to be watching! Though I wasn't sure if I was too thrilled where some of the characters were heading, I can't deny the way the show draws me in. There have been some interesting developments. You really never know what is going to happen next. As for Haiti, I will be there from Thursday till the following Tuesday. Apparently, there is a clinic at the mission and I will be assisting there. It should be interesting since I think the Doc is Haitian and may not speak English.

Wow, a mission trip! I think that's so exciting, especially when you have really useful skills like nursing. I hope you have a great time! How long will you be gone?

congrats on the videos - they sound terrifying!

And Haiti sounds fascinating - cant wait to hear how you find it!
