It all comes back to Gate.

Wow, was Moebius a terrific episode or what? After seeing the Powerhouse that was Reckoning One and Two, and Threads, I was uncertain as to what they possibly could come up with for a season ender. However, I did expect to get some enjoyment out of it due to it relating to the movie, which I always loved, its return to Egyptian mythology (a bit), and the time travel story. I can say I was more than pleased. I enjoyed this episode from start to finish! The Geeky twins were a pleasure to watch and I have to say that I laughed throughout the entire episode. Well, except for that bit at the beginning. (OMG, they killed Katherine) The Gate Death toll rises! And, what was up with Daniel and Katherine's neice. Did I detect the presence of them making googly eyes at each other? If we are never to see her again, I thought that was a bit odd and out of place. There was so much I liked that to talk about it on here would be to recap the entire episode, so, I thought I would just mention that I rather enjoyed the Bradbury reference and it seems that stepping on a bug in Ancient Egypt caused some serious style repercussions in the current day *snort*!
And now onto Atlantis. I didn't get a chance to watch The Gift last week so tonight I watched both The Gift and The Seige. Teyla is really growing on me finally and I thought that whole bit with the Wraith DNA was very intriguing. I always love the sparring scenes between Shepperd and Teyla and find it incredibly sexy and, dare I say it, tonight marks the true beginning of my THUNKING for Shepperd. Yes, it is official. The Seige left me thinking, how on earth (or Atlantis) are they going to get out of this one? And, OMG, they killed Grodin! I have to agree with
dm_lunsford in that they make us love even the ancillary characters and we hate to see them go. They are nothing like the red shirt of the week. The Wraith are still up there with some of the scariest baddies Gate has ever created.
And, lastly, I have created a new vid. Click on my home page if you want to see it because, somehow, I botched the link.

Date: 2005-03-20 09:53 pm (UTC)I have to admit, I noticed this myself, and even my own husband was giving me one of those funny little "Daniel is flirting with her!" pokes in my side with his elbow. ; ) But here's my theory on it... Apparently Catherine has talked about Daniel to high heaven, singing his praises and all that. It's obvious that the niece thought a lot of Catherine, and so it makes sense she would also have a somewhat high opinion of Daniel too, even though she'd never met him. I mean, she does make the cute "Indiana Jones" remark - you can almost imagine she's sort of built him up in her own mind, simply because of all that Catherine has said - and who of us have not had a certain amount of "google-eyed-ness" when meeting someone we sort of idolize, even in the smallest amount? As for Daniel, well he was just being sweet, adorable, charming Daniel - being extra nice to this sweet, pretty young lady who just happened to be Catherine's niece - and he clearly ADORED Catherine so it's natural he'd kind of "transfer" some of that toward the niece.
Well, at least that's my story. And yes, I'm sticking to it. ; )
But yeah, it did strike me as kind of odd (as can probably be evidence by the fact that I've clearly spent entirely too much time trying to figure out a rational explanation for why they behaved as they did). In the meantime, I'm not going to complain all that much, because I was enjoying myself FAR TOO MUCH getting to see Daniel, not only in another suit (SWOON) but also being just a wee bit flirty, doing the lovely smile and amazing blue-eyed-gaze-of-attentiveness (DOUBLE SWOON)!
