Boring Bits and Bobs

Three post in as many days. What is up with that? It's likely more of a side effect of sitting the summer out to save money. However, that means that what I have to say can't be too terribly interesting. Usually, that is enough to stop me from posting. Not this summer, it seems.

Brandon is off to church camp. I might have gone with except that I work tomorrow. That's the way it usually works out. How is it that I can work every other Saturday and somehow manage to hit the fun times? But, I probably could use a break from him since I frequently want to smack him upside the head. Though, not so much this week. Either he has been less annoying or I have been less likely to be annoyed.

After I dropped him off I headed to Paris Landing to prove to myself that I would actually go without him. Since it is a little bit out of the way, I figure that if it's just me it isn't really worth the trip. Well, it was worth it.  It was another scorcher (high of 96 but heat index of 105..or so the weather report said it would be) but the water was perfect. When it is this hot, I typically get wet first before trekking around the park. Still, it was pretty hot and I was sweating buckets by the end and giving thanks for anti-diuretic hormone for keeping the balance. Handy hormone, that.  (see what happens when you study!).

Still, the workout has taken a hit these past couple of weeks. It could all be remedied by me being able to just get out and go early in the morning. But, I am not really a morning person though I can fake it pretty well. I don't think I could really drag a pot of coffee and a bottle water on an early morning trek....LOL. No, my optimal exercise time is midday which isn't very handy. And I wonder again at equivalencies. Are two days with an hour or more each day the same as four days with 30 minutes each day? See how I begin to rationalize. And it's partially for naught since I am such a pig. Sure, I have disassociated weight loss from exercise but it would still be nice.

That reminds me of shift report the other day when we were talking about an 80 year old patient who just would not eat and we were discussing strategies. It dawned on me, and  then I had to say it,  that I am going to be royally pissed if, after trying not to eat my entire life,  I finally lose my appetite when I am 80! Of course that degenerated into jokes of me calling the nurses station at 5am, reminding them that it was time for my am weight and to hurry up about it. (Seriously, I know it serves a real, medical purpose but who wants to be awakened at 5am and be told that it is time to be weighed!)

Leverage continues to entertain and I am still loving Hardison the mostest even if Eliot is a total hottie. I lurve all his fight scenes!

Oh, yeah you did change your layout! :D Nice.

I love "Leverage" and I'm going to pick it back up, soon. I like being able to watch several at-a-time. Previous seasons have been available on Netflix even before it was over, actually! If not, I'm sure Hulu has it. Yes, Hardison is *adorable* and sexy in his own way! I've loved, loved, loved Christian Kane (Eliot)from "Angel" way-back-when. Lindsey and his "Evil Hand" issues. LOL Have you heard him sing? Mmmm. He sung on "Angel" and now he's got an album out, I believe.

And don't worry - I'm your sister in boredom. :)

Hail to you, sister in boredom. My friend speculates that she is actually part of an experiment to see if one can die from boredom She may be on to something.

Yes, Netflix was a veritable boon to my existence since I rarely ever give new shows a chance. This way I can always find new shows, usually through word of mouth, that are fairly established or at least less likely to be cancelled on a cliffhanger.

Kane is veddy easy on the eyes. Angel was a show I never got around to. I didn't know he could sing. Perhaps it will come up sometime on Leverage

Yeah, I think he does more of a country/bluesy thing. At least I remember him playing guitar and singing on "Angel". :) I like that, so it's not problem for me!

I love Netflix/Hulu just because then I don't have to pay another $6.99/mo to have a DVR box, plus spend $$ to rent movies, plus-plus-plus. :D Cable can get ridiculous! And then I realized I was technically paying about $10/mo. for each channel I watching something on, or more! That's even worse. I gave up.

Since I watch very few channels, I don't even want to speculate about how much I actually pay for each channel I watch. I have Dish and it is relatively reasonable. My son watched Netflix movies through his X-box but I have no such connection in my living room. I've never even tried Hulu. I don't mind watching stuff online but, of course, I rather like it much more on my widescreen TV with the surround sound...LOL.

I am sure there is a way to do it through my TV. I'm just not tech savvy enough to do it.

I have a treadmill and a stationary bike in the basement so I use them most days. I can watch tv or a DVD while I'm exercising. On nice days, I go for a long walk.

Walking is my favorite thing and the only form of exercise where I am consistent. I've tried other things but quickly become bored with them.

I had a treadmill some years ago but it really took up too much space and I sold it. Now that I have done a few renovations, I have been considering purchasing another treadmill or an elliptical machine. I prefer walking outdoors but sometimes that isn't the best option.

I actually prefer the treadmill. My mind is always going and I find that if I walk the same way each day, I get bored. Plus I sweat more on the treadmill. But everyone is different. I know people who swear by an elliptical machine or a stairmaster or go to aerobics class (which I used to do until my knees gave out).

Your post doesn't bore me a wit :)

I think we all love our kids but time apart can be a very good thing. Hope B enjoys himself.

I remember Paris Landiing. I bet it was nice on such a hot day. The places I walk are not shaded and I would have wilted in that heat. As you may recall, I am a morning person. Not that it matters when I lack motivation.

LOL at the weight loss and being 80. Would be just our luck!

Well, glad to know that I didn't cure insomnia for the folks who read my journal ;-)

The places I walk are not shaded Ack! Wilt? Melted is more like it. That is the benefit and you can definitely tell the difference when you walk out of the shady parts.

LOL at the weight loss and being 80. Would be just our luck!

Yep, irony of the cruelest kind!
