Creepy Dolls and, why yes, I am procrastinating.

So, yeah, I should be busy either cleaning this house OR working on my paper (when am I not supposed to be working on paper(s). Instead, I procrastinate. I happened upon this story about Civil war dolls being used to smuggle medicine to troops and, since it is almost Halloween, I reflected on how dolls kinda sorta creep me out. Especially old dolls. Maybe it is due to some of the stories I have read as a child such as A Candle in Her Room, which involved an evil doll named Dido and was deliciously scary (and gee isn't it expensive to buy now as it is out of print). I really should re read it and see if it would have the same hauntingly scary affect on me. Another memory is of a Disney movie called Child of Glass which had a china doll and a ghost. I remember being creeped out by this movie as well, so much so that it has stuck in my mind all these years...I had to be about 9-10 when I watched it. (Yeah, a Disney movie. Imagine that!).

Brandon has always loved horror movies but he was always scared by the Chucky doll. Maybe this creeped out by dolls thing is genetic..LOL.

So, what strange thing really creeps you out?

Sock monkeys. Sock monkeys creep me out to no end.

Those vacant eyes. That huge, gaping mouth.

It just ain't right, man.

I agree that dolls can be creepy, especially in the right setting.

But given I am such a weenie when it comes to scary stuff, it doesn't take much to push my active imagination that direction. ;)

Yeah, sometimes all they have to do is play creepy music and, bam, instant scary with even some of the most innocent scenes or things.

Joining you in procrastination land - I should be doing a quiz. I never cared for dolls either, even if they didn't really freak me out either. I do remember reading a story in 2nd? grade about people who were shrunk by some evil force and had to live in a doll house. Creepy enough that I still remember!

BTW, we finished S1 of Merlin!

I know! Schoolwork gets sooooooooo old. But, hey, one more month (or so) and we'll be done.

Yay, Merlin!!!! Syfy is having an 8 episode marathon in December to gear up for airing series 3 in January ( at least I think January). I think the DVD release date for series 2 is January as well. It will be a good time to catch series 2 before 3 airs..... Or at least have it on the dvr. Since I switched to direct tv, I need to record again.

Did you enjoy the end of series one? Did S? I don't expect the squee from everyone but I will share in it if it is there! (hum, I don't recall ever before writing a sentence with 5 two letter words in a row)

Yeah, I got so excited about Merlin that I forgot to mention that the story you mentioned sounded vaguely familiar. Do you remember the name. I'll probs do a search to see if I can find out. But not tonight. Im tired and it's only day two of what will be a 60 hr workweek after all is said and done. Stupid me and feeling guilty/obligated to pick up an extra shift. As if I had time for that.
