This has been a week of dreaded milestones. (For me anyway) Brandon got his driver's license AND a car because, apparently, it is cheaper to purchase a car outright and insure it with liability and comprehensive  than it is to add him as an occasional driver on my vehicle with full coverage. My Mom gave him the money and we got a really good deal. (Otherwise he would have been SOL and so would I because once he has his license, he has to be covered in some way) Sure, the gas mileage will rock but it is so small. (Too small when only a tank will do in my mind.)

He will still have to learn to drive it. It's a manual and, even though I learned on one, I haven't driven one in over 25 years. I seem to remember that I wasn't very good at it. LOL. Thankfully, my brother will teach him and I may have re-learn how myself.

Still, it is likely that my days of sleeping peacefully are over. Perhaps I will need to be medicated. Buspar might do the trick.

Heaven help me!!

Gorgeous car Brandon... love the color.

Uhm... yeah... my daughter told me yesterday she wants to drive. I'm like yeah, well we have to talk it over with a therapist first before I will consent and all the while I'm thinking yeah... and I will need to be medicated so maybe it's time I get my own therapist too.

It is very pretty, even if I am angsting about it. For a long time, Brandon wasn't interested in driving and I was relieved. But, I knew it had to end sometime. It sounds like you are in that boat, too.

and I will need to be medicated so maybe it's time I get my own therapist too.

Yeah, I think I am halfway serious about the need to be medicated.

It is worrisome, especially with boys! I'll be right there with you soon (well, in 6 years, but that will go by in the blink of an eye!).

Yes, time flies! Boys are worrisome, and I have decided that it's not that boys are the "risk takers" whereas girls are less inclined to be so. No, I have started thinking that teenage boys just have less sense...LOL!

My kid will be getting her license next week. I'm so worried about it.

Great car, though.

I think we just cannot help being worried, even if we have no control over what might happen and worrying is useless. It's just hardwired into our maternal DNA.

I can sympathize, a wee bit, as some of the teens at church - who I have known since infancy - are now starting to drive. It is a very, very odd feeling and gives me a whole new appreciation for what my own parents went through. In short, hang in there! This is a rite of passage that parents have been making for generations. ;)

And yes, that's a nice looking car.

It is an odd feeling, that is true. This particular rite of passage is likely to be one of the longer ones!
