Merlin
So, my reaction was pretty straightforward.
It started with
I LOVE YOU ARTHUR
and moved on to
I LOVE YOU LANCELOT
And was soon followed by: I LOVE YOU GWAINE, I LOVE YOU LEON, I LOVE YOU PERCIVAL, and finally, I LOVE YOU ELYAN!
Andpretty much all the time during the scene with Kilgarrah I LOVE YOU MERLIN
You get the idea...
Still, I totally disagree with Cultbox as this second parter totally lived up to my expectations and more.
Of course, the h/c was over too quickly for me but, you know, I totally understand that. Things to do, veils to repair.
More things I loved:
Arthur's concern over Merlin even as he rides to his own, supposed, death. His faaaaaaace.
Knights!!!
That scene by the brook was very lovely and picturesque. I was only a teensy bit disappointed that it wasn't Freya but, hey, they did say brook and not lake so...
The scenes between Lancelot and Merlin and OMG! Lancelot GETS TO MEET KILGARRAH!!! OMG!! And could Santiago be any more lovely?
I spend way too much time loving each one in turn in a "No, wait, I think I love you best" kindof way.
And I just love seeing Merlin do magic in front of someone! (Who is not Gaius)
You go, Gwen!
I found the Dorocha more creepy -scary in this episode. Just sayin'
You know, Agravaine does make a good villain as he certainly looks and sounds caring and trustworthy. No OTT smirking from this fella.
Oh, Morgana. You make me sad. I still wish they would make her a bit more conflicted. Even a glimmer of hope for redemption would make her more interesting. Still, I think her search for Emrys will be fascinating to watch.
The reunion! Oh how I love you, show!!! You make me flail like a flaily thing!
Seriously, no one heard Merlin's badass (and sexy) dragon voice magic fending off the wyvern. Seriously!? I could have sworn Arthur looked his way.
Oh no. Arthur has been knocked unconscious. Who saw that coming? Surely he is tired of waking up to find it's all over. Wonder what Merlin told him this time?
Again, the person playing the Calleach is AWESOME! Can we have her instead of the sulky, smirking Morgana? Sometimes I see Morgana as a formidable opponent to Merlin but other times, like in this episode, I see her as a spoiled brat throwing a temper tantrum. (*stamping her foot* But the throne is mine. Mine. Mine. MINE!)
Oh, Lancelot. You made me cry! When he looks at Merlin.....His faaaaaaace before he steps into the breach. Oh, my heart! It's breaking!!
Poor Gwen. I may not be too far off base in my theory about Gwen's guilt and pain at what she asked Lancelot to do being the true catalyst of the whole Arthur/Gwen/Lancelot triangle.
How sad was that funeral pyre scene?
But what she doesn't know is that he did it as much to save Merlin as he did to save Arthur. Oh, my heart!!!!
I love that they didn't put off letting Merlin find out that Morgana is looking for Emrys. Oh Agravaine, you are epic failing as Morgana's henchman/lover?/spy.
Which reminds me. When they meet in his chambers, was Agravaine going to kill Gwen or caress her? Hummmm. I couldn't decide if I found that intriguing or skeevy.
Next week's preview: I mean it, show! I want my other theory to be wrong, wrong, wrong. I DO. NOT. WANT. Dragoon/Old Merlin to be the go to guy every time magic is done openly in front of Arthur/Morgana/Whoever! I might have to take a page out of Morgana's book and throw a tantrum
Other shows I found time to watch.
Fringe:
Poor Walter. Dangit, Peter! You had to know that Walter would think he was going mad. But, oh, I was so happy to see Olivia going through the database and her drawing and that scene at the end. Yay!
But, I am loving the chemistry between Franklin and Olivia. Oh my. Stop it, Glenda!
And a note about last week: Did we know that Olivia killed her step-father? I've only watched this series through once and I may have missed an episode or two. I am liking the tension between Olivia and Fauxlivia in their scenes together and, really, how cool is that when it's the same actress. Can you really have chemistry with yourself?
I really thought the guy who played the professor/serial killer did a fantastic job as well.
Sanctuary:
Oh, they dumped what's her face. Good. I thought this was one of the best episodes, yet! I love it that Helen goes back to her own time , so to speak, and how Watson (Yay! Watson!!) picked up on the changes in her, aside from the superficial. Oh, and she so totally kicks John's ass!! Loved it!
I would like to see more in this time-line.
But, hey, does that mean if Helen hangs out till she gets back to her own time that there will be two Helen Magnuses or is that one of those loop thingies where she waits till Helen follows Adam back to rejoin the team?
Gosh, but I love me a good head scratchin', time travel conundrum.
Seriously, there needs to be a mood for "Squee"
Since there isn't, I shall give you the Squee compliments of Zachary Levi!!
ETA: And I had to laugh when I re read this post and saw how many times I used the words totally, seriously, really, and Love.
Obviously, the squee totally affects my vocabulary. Seriously.

Date: 2011-10-09 01:35 am (UTC)It was kind of funny that nobody noticed Merlin growling out that spell to fend off the wyverns. Arthur did have kind of an odd look, but who knows with that boy.
Morgana is very bratty. I think she must truly be insane at this point.
I was wondering about that scene with Agravaine and Gwen, too. It looked like he was moving to kill her, then decided against it. For a moment, I thought he'd had a change of heart and didn't want to do it. But then Morgana didn't seem at all surprised to see Gwen with the guards, so it seemed like they'd planned it that way all along. In which case...Agravaine gets even creepier, because what the heck was he planning to do to Gwen himself?

Date: 2011-10-09 07:36 pm (UTC)The second time I watched, I kept trying to see where Arthur was in relation to Merlin during the wyvern scene but I still didn't get a handle on it.
I do love the reunion scene where Arthur is clearly so relieved to see Merlin alive that he doesn't quite know what to do with himself. It's like he is struggling with himself about showing his reactions. Awwwww.
I am hoping there is more to Agravaine than meets the eye, too...something to make him interesting. At the moment, I want to know just what he is really up to.
Yeah, Morgana seemed to know where Gwen was going to be but, I'm with you. I thought he was going to kill her and then seemed to change his mind. And then again, he seemed he was going to touch her but then thought better of it. As you say, what was that all about if he and Morgana already had a plan?

Date: 2011-10-09 02:26 am (UTC)Sometimes I think Arthur totally knows that Merlin knows a little more than he lets on about magical things. After all, Arthur knows Gaius is the go-to magic sage, and Merlin being his apprentice...surely he would have learned a thing or two? Whether or not he knows Merlin is actually magic...well...that's probably more than he wants to think about.
All in all...LOVE THEM <3

Date: 2011-10-09 07:42 pm (UTC)You know, I'm almost beginning to get an inkling of this myself. Every so often I am struck with the thought, that, how on earth can Arthur come to think more positively about magic when all he ever sees it do is kill and destroy?
I think this is something that will need to be addressed if we are ever going to believe that Arthur will accept Merlin and magic.
At the moment, I'm surprised he doesn't harbor even more ill will towards it than Uther!

Date: 2011-10-09 05:39 pm (UTC)I was also suprised to hear Olivia stated that she killed her Stepfather. The look of shock on Faux Olivia face when she heard Olivia say it was interesting too. I think Faux Olivia had a way better childhood.
This is what I read on a Fringe fan site regarding this admission.

"In the world we’ve come to know over the past few seasons, she had only wounded her Step Father—perhaps because her encounter with Peter in the field of white tulips diminished her rage, perhaps because in a Peter-less world Walter never told her stepfather to stop abusing her. "
As for Sanctuary, Who you mean by they dumped what's her face? It was neat to see the difference in the Helen's. Living for all that time certainly has changed her and not always for the best. Our Helen seems to have a lot of pent up anger which she then took out on John. Boy did she kick his ass. I wonder what affect that will have on future John. I was thinking that even thought She was trying to save the future from Adam she may have caused just as much trouble as he would have.

Date: 2011-10-09 08:00 pm (UTC)I think Walter really is a bit crazy which is why he is able to see and hear Peter.
Oh, I just noticed in the Sanctuary opening thingie that there were only 4 people in it. What's her face was not there...why can't I think of her name.
"thingie" "what's-her-face"
I'd be more concerned about my obvious inability to remember what the opening thingie is called and what's-her-face's name except I know I have always been like this...LOL!
My husband used to say "thing equals....?"
