A Day Off!

Well, sortof. When you come home and sleep all day it doesn't quite have that real day off feel. The weekend went well...except when I got that whole Nausea/vomiting/diarrhea thing mid shift Saturday night. Uck! Fortunately, my coworker was very understanding with my, "uh, I'll be right back" moments although it was a good thing that patient didn't decide to have a seizure while I was...ahem...otherwise incompacitated.

We had a new doc who seemed like he knew what he was doing (always a plus) and was very laid back. He gets extra points for being some nice eye candy over the course of the evening. (Well, at least until that point when I found myself frequently and intimately aqquainted with the bathroom. Uck!) But, this doc won't likely be back because, as usual, the company who supplies our rent-a-docs never tell them the truth. They always give them this bull about coming in, seeing a couple of patients with minor complaints, and then getting to sleep the rest of the night. As if! Now, the typical pattern is mayhem until 1 or 2 am and then, oftentimes, there will be a huge lull after that. But, there is never any guarantee, especially as the ER is some folks primary care physician. *rolls eyes*

me: Now how long have you had this *insert minor ailment here*?

them: Oh, since July 8th.

Aha...and it suddenly became an emergency at 2am, November 12th? But, some people are cracked and there is no hope for it.

I did have to miss Bri Bri's third birthday party *pouts*. I hope they video taped it. It is said that she got some "bun bob" houseshoes that she paraded around in all evening and wouldn't take off. Awwwwwwww.

Ack, don't you just love people who are on death's door before they finally go see someone about their 'minor ailment'?

Bravo on the eye candy. Tis too bad you didn't get more of it!

Hate that damn bug. So far I haven't gotten it. I think R is feeling better, she did go to school today at least.

My God, Bri is 3 already? Okay, how the heck did that happen!

Yeah, but usually they aren't at death's door and it really is usually a minor ailment..LOL.

Ooh, I can't believe you worked through the puking virus! I was immobile for about 8 hours when I had it (fever...chills...yuk!)

Happi birthday to Bri! I'm sure she was too cute.

Well, I was lucky to miss the fever/chills part but it was a miserable shift, that's for sure. I wanted to call in the next night but knew there would be no one to replace me other than the DON so I trudged in and toughed it out again. But, thankfully no pukage.
