Pumpkin Pie and Firefly
Nov. 23rd, 2005 04:58 pmI really love Pumpkin pie and I wonder why we never make it other than this time of the year. I am actually making two Pumpkin Pies but not in the traditional sense of Pumpkin Pie. One is a Pumpkin/Gingerbread hybrid and I can't wait to see how it turns out. The other is a pudding, cool whip thingie.
Not much going on around here. Brandon is spending the night with a friend. Actually, he slept over last night and then wheedled another night out of me. I enjoy having the house to myself but I am all too aware that in about ten or more years this is how it is going to be *all* the time and that always adds a touch of melancholy. Just a touch. I don't think there is such a thing as Pre empty nest sydrome....LOL.
I have watched all the Firefly eps I haven't seen thanks to
de23 loaning me her DVD set. Fox was stupid for cancelling this show!!! But, I really don't have any say so I suppose since I didn't watch it while it aired. Leftover fear from Earth 2 keeps me away from most new sci-fi series and then, it is too late. I am adding this line from Mal to my top quotes of all time.
"You got the right, same as anyone, to live and try to kill people." ROFL! Oh, but I had to rewind it and play it again! Wheeeeeeee.
I also watched the shortened version of Threads and it wasn't so bad although I have already sent my rebate stuff in to get the 90 minute version that aired on sci-fi. No commentary though. And, of course, that brings to mind another favorite quote.
Oma: "How deep is the river if you cannot see the bottom?"
Jim: "Deeper than the coffee in my cup, that's for sure." Oh, what fun!

Date: 2005-11-25 03:22 am (UTC)Your desserts sound right up hub's alley. He loves pumpkin and so does D. Hope you enjoy some part of dinner as you said you were stuck in the ER this evening. So glad you liked Firefly. UPN actually had the series and they were complete idiots to cancel it. Sadly, the movie didn't do that well. I'm not sure if it broke even in fact. Mal had some terrific lines. I thought the humor of the series would grab you.
Take care and I hope this evening does not turn out as hairy down there as it has up here. My father in law has been listening to the scanner all day-as per usual-and there have been three fatalities in the area just in the last 16 hours. The roads are slick

Date: 2005-11-25 06:01 pm (UTC)I did get to enjoy some dinner and then everyone around me promptly took a nap so rather than eye them jealously, I left for work a bit early. It was pretty busy as is the norm for a Holiday. You think it would be the other way around.
And you are right, the humor is what grabbed me with Firefly though I am not sure yet that I would ever re watch.
*giggles at the title of your post*
I am not really very good with subject headings but I thought I outdid myself with that one. LOL!

Date: 2005-11-28 06:06 pm (UTC)Well, I bought the Season 8 set when it came out, but I've yet to watch any of them. How does one go about getting the longer version of Threads?

Anyway, all you have to do is register with this site. Once you do, you will have a form to print out and sign. I printed the form out and signed it, took the insert out of disc number 5 (that has the teensy proof of purchase on the back, printed a new invoice from Amazon for good measure(like I still had the original packing slip...*snort*..LOL), and sent it to the address provided. I haven't received any confirmation that it has been received but I have heard say that they have. Some are sending it certified mail but I didn't do that. We'll see.
