Whew, these past few weeks have been a whirlwind. If you have been reading this exciting and thought provoking journal (snort), I told my sister not to have her baby till I was off work and she complied. Abigail Faith was born yesterday evening weighing in at 6lb 11oz. Had my sister gone to her due date, April 17, I suspect the child would have weighed over 10 lbs! Since Abby was early and my sister had gestational diabetes, her lungs aren't quite up to snuff, so the hospital erred on the side of caution and sent her to an NICU in Nashville. She is doing fine...just needed a bit of O2 and a little time. Hopefully, she will get to come home sometime in the coming week.

I am also seriously entertaining the idea of going back to school. I started the application process and have been accepted through the Regents online degree program, been assigned to school which was, fortunately, Austin Peay, and have been given the go ahead to apply to the graduate school. I hope it doesn't cost a fortune which is the one thing that has been holding me back. (Other than the idea of actually having to jump into the whole study/busy work fray). I am hoping to head to the school next week to see what other hoops I need to jump through as well as talk to the advisor.

Other than all of the above, not much new going on here. I haven't watched any TV in ages. Netflix is making money on me, so I better get busy with season one of the X-files. It is Brandon's Spring Break and our trip to Gatlinburg is off for the moment due to new babies and such. I need to search for some local fun stuff for us to do. Next weekend starts my new every weekend work schedule. But, first on the agenda, Groceries! I haven't been since way before the Oklahoma trip. There is nothing in this house...LOL!!!

I wanna go back to school! Waaaah!

But seriously, congratulations on being an aunty again! Give my best to Frannie and Abigail.

And tell us more about what you'll be studying.

I know...I love the whole school thing but becoming a professional student would be rather expensive!

As for study, I know it will be an advanced Nursing degree. I am just undecided about my primary focus. I am thinking of becoming a Nurse Practitioner (NP). I know I could make scads of money as a Nurse Anesthetist but I really don't want to go that route. I have also thought about teaching nursing but, you know, I gotta get over that whole public speaking phobia for that ;-)

Congrats on Abigail! Let me know if they are still in Nashville Friday and I'll go by and say hi after C's therapy.

I'm glad RODP finally got back to you! See, they're just slow. Good luck working out the financing -- aren't there grants and stuff, since there is such a nursing shortage?

You're watching X-Files!?!?!? We really have to get together this week. I've been wanting to watch it again (especially the first season).

Abby is doing great so maybe she will get to go home before Friday.

As for the RODP program, I certainly hope there are some grants and what not. I know there is a nursing shortage but I am not so sure about a shortage of advanced practice nurses.

Last night I started season one of x-files. I got through the first disc. Mulder and Scully look so young! Her attire is totally cracking me up. Shoulder pads..what were we thinking? Since I have never seen the first seasons, I thought the shippy stuff started up rather quickly. Of course, hindsight could be altering my viewpoint.

Yes, we do need to get together! When would be good and are we talking your place or mine? I suppose it would be easier for me to come there at some point.

Wow!

Wow, congrats on the decision to go back to school! I know that's not something you do lightly. And I wish you the best of luck!

Getting back into the whole school and study fray is difficult but it's also kind of like riding a bike - it all comes back to you pretty quick. ; )

Thanks for your well wishes and, yes, I am sure it will all come back to me...along with my one and only superpower. A super duper ability to procrastinate. I am so very good at it. I need much in the way of self discipline.

But, surprisingly, it's never stopped me before.

School pressure

I really hope you do it. That's really exciting. Let me know how that whole study/work thing goes. I've wondered how I would do it - and attempt to keep the house livable.

Congrats to Frannie on the baby.

X-files - I was thinking just the other day how I would like to watch them again. I did the Netflix gig for the 2-week trial period and I just couldn't find enough time to watch shows, so I did not activate the membership. At some point, I'll look into it again. I really like being able to watch seasons of shows.

I'm not too worried about the whole work/study thing as I have been there. Done that. I just worry about my supreme laziness...LOL.

I have found that lately I forego other shows for the Netflix shipments. I want to get my money's worth after all. However, I suppose the same could be said for purchasing dishnetwork each month. ;-) I imagine it would be near impossible for you to find the time what with your work and two wee ones.

Now, now. I had no doubt that you could do it and do it very well. How does it feel to be near the end of the long haul?

Very very scary - given that there are massive job cuts taking place in the NHS due to the usual underfunding and financial missmanagement that this government has presided over - getting a job will prove tough. Atleast you are moving on with your career and making yourself even more marketable.

Grr...doesn't that make you want to pull your hair out? You go to all this work and expense and then you have trouble finding a job. It's happened to me before and I remember the frustration.

I will be moving up in my career, such that it is..LOL. However, not so sure about being any more marketable as there is a HUGE nursing shortage in this country. If I manage to do this I could find the market glutted.
