First Contact.(There be spoilers)

What a total squeefest this was. I have already commented in athosian_fields  but I just felt like squeeing some more. I didn't realize just how much I missed Daniel until he beamed into Atlantis. Someone mentioned that he seemed more giddy and smiling in the first scene than he ever did in 10 seasons of SG-1. I was just as giddy and smiling. I LOVED everything about this episode. I'd have probably really enjoyed the episode if it hadn't included Daniel. His presence just added that little bit more that was needed to send me on over to Swoonville. It was great to see the interaction between Rodney and Daniel. It's not something we have ever had a real opportunity to see. I loved it how Mckay totally resented him interrupting his work but slowly became interested in spite of himself. The interaction between the two of them really made me chuckle quite a but and Daniel's comment about hoping "it's not radiation" strangely made me LOL. Really, though, I just adored everyone in this episode, from Woolsey wanting so much to play diplomat, and Todd totally brushing him off, to the scene with Todd and Keller discussing the impact her treatment will have on the Wraith. They really nailed this much needed scene, I think. I was really surprised and intrigued that Todd knew exactly what caused the Wraith ship's destruction and I just knew he would think it was Atlantis that planned it all. I was practically talking to the TV, saying,  "No. No. Noooo. Todd, they really didn't do it." And, what about the Gate,(yes, the Gate is a character) John, and Zelenka. That surely doesn't look good. And this new villain!  Atlantis certainly was no match for them. They just zipped right on in, took what they wanted, along with our two favorite fast talking scientists, and left.  I wonder at their singlemindedness. Who are they? How are they connected with the Ancients? What is under that armor? Where have they been all this time? Why did they target only Wraith hyperdrive ability? I mean, if they were at war with the Wraith, you'd think we would have felt their presence before now. They seem to know how to use Ancient tech, why haven't they come looking for the weapon before now? I know Atlantis is in a different area now, but before then the city was where it had always been. They had to know prior to this point that someone was occupying the city. So many questions and so many speculations. I just love it!! Usually, they air something like this and we have to wait six months to see the conclusion. This time, we only have to wait two weeks and I cannot wait.

I am still excited, though in my excitement I fell upon old habits and now I know something I really shouldn't know but it is so cool I don't really care. I can't wait to see how it all plays out!

Quite the SQUEEFEST indeed. Loved how Rodney and Daniel smirked about Rodney's Joke that John could have been in Mensa.LOL!!!

It was so sweet to see Daniel smiling so much. I would love to see some missing scene fic about Vala trying to convince Daniel to let her come with him to Atlantis.

So agree about the scene with Todd and Keller. I made a reply in athosian fields but wanted to ditto here. I am REALLY pleased that we are trying to incorporate the Wraith's cooperation this time. And I'm glad to see Todd asking the tough questions - questions that should have been dealt with while we were creating the Michael incident.

I loved this ep too, I've already re-watched it. In addition to all the lovely points everyone else has mentioned, I like Rodney telling Daniel to push on the wall as hard as he could and then Daniel getting back at him in the laser-wall cell (I wonder if they have special "prison cell" designers in order to make them all different?). I also loved Rodney's response to to Daniel's question about what they would do if they escaped -- "I'll think of something. I always do." It's Rodney's arrogance coming through, but yet, it's true.

I think that the new villians (are they the ones from DV?) didn't know where the other piece of the device was until it was turned on. Janus could have had lots of secret labs, and why would they know where his lab was in Atlantis?

I supposing from Todd's comment at the end that the Wraith know about this device, but presumably don't know where it is (otherwise they would have destroyed it). I'm hoping that in part 2 they can reason with him that it would be stupid of them to use this device while they were doing this procedure and having wraith on board -- they could have just turned it on while safe in Atlantis and waited until all the Wraith were dead.

Yay, now it's less than 2 weeks to wait!

True about Janus's labs I suppose. I also wondered why they were just sitting around for, what, 10,000 years waiting for the beacon to come on. It certainly seemed that way..LOL! More mystery, I suppose.
