Snow Day

Ice and snow. Blech. Though the trees did look pretty yesterday I know how bad an ice storm can be. I never lost electricity though it did blink a few times. I know some were without power yesterday as we even had an admission related to it. It was quite creepy driving home from work last night. As I was driving home, I came upon a section of road with trees all over it. On the other side of this divide was another car. I pulled over to the side of the road and got out as did an older lady from the other side. She had no cell service, though I did. All around us we could hear branches cracking and falling. I just expected to be crushed by a tree at any moment! She called her son on my phone because he had a chain saw. A few minutes later the Fire Chief arrived and said it would take more than a chain saw. That's when I turned around because I did have an alternate route even if it did take me an hour and ten minutes to get home. The rain/sleet increased and it was a miserable drive home. I was just waiting for a tree to fall on me. I have always loved the amount of trees in this area but I was never more aware of just how many there are than I was during this drive home...Eeeek.

I am proud of myself today as I just spent six hours working on the weekly assignments. (There's certainly no such thing as a snow day in online classes...LOL) I have set a goal to spend 4-6 hours each day that I am off on assignments, though I know that there will be days that I will spend more time and days when I spend less but I am hoping that having a specific goal will help me manage my time more effectively so that there are few marathon sessions. I only have the small paper left. (Yes, in addition to the discussion postings which require references and are like small papers in and of themselves, there is a weekly assignment that involves a small paper with references. I'm already sick to the teeth of APA) I am looking forward to starting my clinical Friday though I am also extra nervous. I thought that it would be good to have a preceptor I knew but now I wonder if I would have been less nervous with a preceptor I have never met in a clinic where no one knows me.

The satellite was fixed only to go out due to the ice yesterday.  I have yet to see if it is functional today. We've just had word no school again tomorrow. There really isn't that much snow but the ice under it is solid. But, being stuck in the house has been a good thing. I hope the roads are clear Friday though.

I don't know where they are from actually. I think they said but I can't remember.

I'm glad you made it home in one piece too! Things have been pretty well cleaned up for us but I know some areas are looking at mid February before they get power back. Yuck!
