I have been enjoying the summer tremendously. It is a shame that work interferes with my fun times. It has been pretty hot here with temps in the upper 90's all week. My leisurely summer attitude usually doesn't get us to the pool until about noon and then I have to walk my 3-4 miles before I go in. Fortunately, there are many shady spots as well as a continous breeze from the T ennessee River. Still, I am more than ready to dive in when I am done. Now, if only I could be as committed to healthy eating. Sigh. They should really name a yo-yo after me ;-)

With vacations and a few people moving on to better jobs, there are a bazillion uncovered slots during the month of July. Overtime isn't mandatory (yet!) and I don't want to spend the whole summer working overtime. Brandon is on auto pilot enough as it is. I am going to do a couple of shifts and I told them that I would be willing to split some shifts. That way the day isn't a total loss. Too soon, I'll be back into the throes of school insanity and I rather like my free time. I actually need to register and haven't been able to force myself into it.

In addition to pool fun, I have been reading the Twilight series and I finished Eclipse over the weekend. I read another Doctor Who book loaned to me by [livejournal.com profile] de23  but have to say I didn't enjoy it as much as previous books. I think this may have to do with the "standalone" nature of these stories.  Same goes with the recent Torchwood book I read, even though Ianto being changed into a woman lead to some pretty funny moments. I am also into a finish/re read of  Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis where I have been amazed several times by thought processes similar to my own.

And I am still working on the great  Farscape rewatch. I have reached my beloved season three, though I realized during all of this that I really adored season one and then I really loved season two...you see where this is going. I'm really enjoying the wonders John Crichton has seen ;-) Over the weekend/Monday I was up to the Infinite Possibilities two parter, Deadalus Demands and Icarus Abides.  I think I even sobbed more this time around. Then I watched Revenging Angel which is totally terrific and tonight I am going to watch The Choice. Uh oh,  I just noticed that I have started knowing episode titles off the top of my head....a sure sign of a complete fangirl conversion!

Stick to your guns on the overtime -- life's too short!

What Doctor Who book did you read? I can't even remember which ones I've loaned you.

I'm trying to watch more Farscape but with taking the boys to the pool and working and all I've only gotten through 1 more disc (3 eps). Perhaps I'll squeeze in a little tonight. Saturday night is the new Doctor Who special! Woo-hoo!

You are right, life is way too short! I have given them a full shift and a 4 hour shift from 7-11 at night. Most of the days fall in such a way that I either work that same day or I work the next which makes taking a 7p-7a shift impossible. Plus, Brandon's pretty self sufficient but I am leery about leaving him here alone overnight.

No hurry on the Farscape DVD, though when I am watching I always think about how you will take a certain episode.

And the Who book was The Art of Destruction It just wasn't as good as some of the others have been, IMO.

Which reminds me, I want to find another book to take to the pool today if we go.
