It has been ages since I updated. My reason for having time now is my supposed "fall break". Still, even though my clinical schedule won't change, I won't have one of those monstrous case studies due tomorrow, which has made this weekend seem like a little break.

It has been quite a frenetic pace that will pick up even more next week when  I turn one of my 8 hr clinical days into 12 hours to make up some time. My preceptor in Clarksville wasn't there two Fridays in a row! I think some meeting or conference came up during the week each time and no one called me because they just thought I could have another doc precept me for the day. On the first occasion, I texted my clinical instructor and when I didn't hear from her immediately, went to work. (Stupid, stupid me). Naturally, four hours later she calls me back to tell me that I would have to have paperwork for each preceptor even though the contract is with the facility. All those hours wasted. As it takes some time to get all that taken care of, nothing was in order on the next Friday I show up and he isn't there. Grrrr. So, now I am going to go to this facility on Thursdays instead of Fridays and stay for 12 hours. Fortunately, I have had no problems with hours with my other preceptor since there have been several occasions where we work over.

I am seriously behind on all the reading andgave up on catching up on that ages ago. Any reading is always in context with that enormous case study or when I am researching something for clinical or discussion. It drives me batty to not do it because I think I have to read everything or I am missing something. So, my crazy plan it to read what I have missed over Christmas break. Yep...completely nutso.

And this is all so incredibly boring....LOL. Even I am completely bored with writing (and reading) it.

Anyway, my sister from out of town visited this week and my whole house smells of smoke. When she and her husband come, I give them my bedroom because it is just easier for them. While I was moving things to the other bathroom, I noticed some damage to the drywall that can only come from a leak. It turns out that Brandon's shower fixture has been leaking behind the wall for who knows how long. I call a plumber because this is way beyond my own ability, even if I did fix my toilet once. They come in and the whole thing is cracked at the top and they have to repair it from an opening in the opposing wall which is in the dining room! I was devastated when they had to do this. Now, there is a small square hole in my dining room wall. At least they did it in such a way as the cut out can be put back in place, even if you can still see the cut. Now, I need to get the drywall fixed in two different rooms, not to mention that whole painting technique thing I have going on all opposing walls in the dining and living rooms!  Will I even be able to match that up? What are the odds I won't have to completely repaint both rooms entirely, not to mention Brandon's bathroom?  I don't have time for this! So, for now, I am going to rearrange some wall hangings to cover it up..LOL. The shower curtain will hide the mess in Brandon's bathroom. Hey, it works. My sister and I put a hole in the wall when we were kinds and we hid it from my Mom for 10 years! (We were arguing and likely throwing things at one another although my sister likes to say she punched that hole in the wall...it was paneling, after all).

Brandon has a friend who used to live here but who now lives in Columbus, GA. They keep up with one another via X-box live. Well, his friend's Mom came up for the weekend for a visit and because her son wanted to have his birthday party here. I picked up another friend and took them to the mall/movies where the Mom would meet us later and pick them up. She had rented a room in a hotel with an indoor pool.  They decided they all wanted to see Zombieland but, because it is rated R, in Tennessee they actually have to have a parent watch it with them. There is no way I was going to waste 88 minutes, birthday or no birthday (Brandon also has a b-day on Tuesday) I told them Surrogates was PG-13 and it might be good. So they bought tickets for that......and snuck into Zombieland. Such juvenile delinquents. Still, it is a pretty stupid rule. If I give him permission, it should be enough IMHO, especially since 14-15 year old boys are the prime targets for such movies. (I mean, come on....a goal of one of the characters is to find the last few Twinkies left on an apocalyptic earth...while evading Zombies)

I feel your pain with the leak issue. The whole they had to make in my wall as at least 4 feet square. :)

Happily, it is a rather easy repair job. The problem is you have no time to do it!

And what an annoying preceptor. We reign curses upon that silly doctor (to not kick in until after you're done, of course).

Well, all repairs seem complicated in my mind. (and costly)

We reign curses upon that silly doctor (to not kick in until after you're done, of course).

LOL! Supposedly he told someone to call me. Supposedly.
