Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] earthgrazer , I was finally able to see End of Time parts one and two and it really did break my heart! Between watching Return of the King last night and 10's exit today my nose is all stopped up. Then, I had a chance to go back and read all of the discussions.

I was also confused about the timeline and all that with the Time lock and whatnot. I thought it was just because I was relatively new to Doctor Who but I see that others were confused

I got the impression that the mysterious lady in white was the Doctor's mother but how Wilfred fits into all of it is anyone's guess. Why did she appear to him? She was trapped with the other TL, right? Wouldn't she have to have some sort of connection to contact him according to the rules of that time lock thing? I like the idea that she is Susan as well but  those scenes at the end made me doubt it. I don't know much about Romana's storyline to have an opinion either way.

Wilfred got to be a brief companion!!! I have been wanting to see that since they introduced his character.

Speaking of mysterious figures, who was that hooded fella in the back of the church? I kept waiting for him to show up again and he never did. They sure put a great deal of camera emphasis on him for us not to see him again or for him not to have any relevance to the plot.

It was nice to get more backstory about the relationship between the Doctor and the Master. But what was their purpose in driving him mad, again? Maybe that is also explained more in past episodes.

I blubbered all the way through 10 revisiting old friends before he died/regenerated. Sob. So, was this post Children of Earth, Jack? I was glad to see Martha and Mickie together and was somewhat intrigued about what they were involved in. They even brought in Sarah Jane and the woman he fell in love with as John Smith, though I don't know why he didn't go back and see her, instead. Maybe the actress was unavailable.

Not sure about 11. But, I wasn't fond of 10 at first, either. I am sure it will take me a few episodes....episodes that I hope my friends will record for me :-)

So, the Doctor purposely brought about the end if the TL. That explains alot.

Whoo-hoo! I'm glad you got to see it! Do you still want the DVDs? Have you seen Waters of Mars?

Speaking of mysterious figures, who was that hooded fella in the back of the church?

I read some speculation that the woman is white is either the White Guardian (of "Key to Time") or a Time Lord under the control of the White Guardian and therefore, that hooded figure is the Black Guardian. The idea being that the even more ultimate powers in the universe have to step in and straighten the Time Lords out.

But what was their purpose in driving him mad, again? I'm with Michelle in thinking it was a by-product of the drumbeat.

So, was this post Children of Earth, Jack?
Yes. 'Net wisdom seems to be that The Doctor, because he's so similar to Jack ("causing" the death of many, outliving loved ones, etc.), was giving Jack "permission" to go ahead and live life and enjoy it, despite the past.

hey even brought in Sarah Jane and the woman he fell in love with as John Smith, though I don't know why he didn't go back and see her, instead.
I think the Doctor would feel that Nurse whatsername wouldn't want to see him again, since he "killed" John Smith. She was very severe with him at the end of Family of Blood.

So, the Doctor purposely brought about the end if the TL. That explains alot.
Yes! I love the way it puts a whole new spin on so many scenes in seasons 1-4.

I'll have to bring you my "Beautiful Chaos" book -- a total Donna/Wilf adventure! It was great!

Oh yes! I still want to watch it in glorious 42 inch widescreen! LOL. Plus, I haven't seen Waters of Mars, yet. I'd love to read your Beautiful Chaos book, too.

I wouldn't have gotten the White/Black guardian reference, though I did notice the woman was always wearing white.

I had forgotten that the nurse blamed him but she may have had regrets later.
