Yay, Spring is here and it is beautiful outside. I will definitely make my way outdoors today. However, this post is all about the shows.

It has been quite the week of show returns and premieres and I haven't even had a chance to watch them all. (Lost comes to mind.)  I recorded the Merlin marathon of season 1 on SyFy and managed to watch them all just in time for season 2 to begin. Now I'm caught up in this show as well. I actually like the concept as Merlin is usually portrayed as an old fella in most of the Arthurian incarnations I have read and seen. Even though the series has taken several liberties, it doesn't really bother me, maybe because I have read/watched so many different novels/shows/movies where there has been a different take or slant that I am now open to many different interpretations. I am really liking this buddy relationship between Arthur and Merlin. Why am I such a sucker for male buddy relationships? (especially as I really have no slash tendencies whatsoever and am usually totally squicked out when people go there) Anyway, it definitely explains my sudden urge to read the Mary Stewart books again and The Mists of Avalon.  I may even consider starting one of them today though I am SUPPOSED to be reading about musculoskeletal conditions and injuries in pediatric patients. I really hate musculoskeletal. Give me cardiac any day!

I caught the premiere of SGU and WOW! Yes, I only managed to watch the finale right before the premiere which is telling with regard to my previous level of interest in this show. It was on my DVR forever and then I accidentally deleted it. Last night's edge of seat fare has, perhaps, changed that. I know I am way behind but I did find myself alternating between like and dislike of different characters in the finale/premiere. (With a few notable exceptions. Eli  is likeable through and through. There has been a certain level of consistency and dependability in Greer, who I also like and Tamara, who has also been a strong, consistent character). Since I watched the finale and the premiere back to back, they almost seem one show and my comments will reflect this. Chloe came a long way in my book in her defense of Col. Young. But, then she became damsel in distress, though I suppose that was unavoidable since there are only three female leads and the other two were busy. It does make her character seem disposable, doesn't it?  I am irritated at Rush for framing Young and have almost decided that he is completely untrustworthy! Now it seems that he and Camille are in cahoots and I find that irritating. Just who did she think saved them from the alien attack, anyway? Her changes when she was leader seemed just as shortsighted as any and I hope the civilian vs. military doesn't become a constant theme. I was surprised in just how much I wanted to slap her throughout the episode...LOL. What Young did was equally awful and, yet, I understand his motives more and, at least, he does have remorse when he crosses the line. Rush appears to have none which will ultimately render his character unsalvageable to me which will be a shame as he is interesting. I found the new alien threat and the action it provoked  to be perfect.

With regard to Fringe, I missed the opening bits of that episode. The ole DVR made decisions related to priority which I had to fix straightaway and move this terrific show up to the top of the list. I didn't really start watching till Walter visits Olivia to explain Peter. This ep went a long way in explaining the sequence of events and I am curious to see what the fallout will be. I find it strange that Peter does not remember any of this as an adult, including his childhood illness. Sure, Olivia doesn't remember the experiments in Jacksonville but I think she was 3 at the time whereas Peter was 10. Perhaps, the fall through the ice had something to do with it. Head injury? Anway, I literally cried for Walter and for the alternate Mrs. Bishop. So, am I understanding correctly that Walter is the cause of what is happening today with regard to collision between the two universes? I can't even imagine Peter's reaction when he finds out! Eeek!! There isn't much to talk about regarding those lovely interactions between Peter and Olivia as adult Peter wasn't even in this ep. Sigh. Of course, I did get a kick out of the Watchers. (Others?, Consortium of weird bald men? Just what are they calling them?) watching Back to the Future in the alternate universe where Eric Stoltz is the star. Wasn't he really a consideration for the part of Marty McFly?

And what can I say about the Big Bang Theory except that I have caved and ordered seasons one and two. I do believe that Sheldon's drunken speech and his next day reaction was one of the funniest comedic bits EVER!!! I have a ward clerk coworker, Jenny, who watches this show and when I am in charge, I have had a fun time trying to get her attention by knocking on the desk. ( Knock, Knock, Knock "Jenny", Knock, Knock, Knock. "Jenny" Knock, Knock, Knock "Jenny")  Plus, I have seriously considered ordering a T-shirt that explains Rock. Paper. Scissors. Lizard. Spock.

And I don't want to leave out Chuck, which has also been quite exciting. I can't wait to see what happens next week as Shaw does seem bent on revenge after the big reveal that it was Sarah who killed his wife. But, didn't they have a discussion about this when Shaw asked her to be the one to tell Chuck that he needed to kill that other CIA guy? She was just following orders and it is obvious that she hated it. She said it was the worst day of her life. I am hoping that Shaw can see beyond his rage, here. I was worried about Casey when they cut him out (fired? discharged? what is the correct term, here?), but I do like what these new set of circumstances has done to the character. That whole bit with the suit was hilarious, though that may not have been this ep. And I love how Chuck's weird, fellow Buy More colleagues always unknowingly become part of the mission. Is it Monday, yet???

I can't wait to see how this storyline about Shaw's wife plays out.

Eeeep! Did you see how it all played out last night! Oh. MY!!!!

And it is taking so much willpower for me to not peek at everyones Fringe spoilers

I know. It is sooooo hard. However, you aren't too terribly behind so we should all be on the same page pretty soon.

Last night's Chuck was fantastic! And it worked so much better this way. I mean, while I can see Chuck as a spy now, I don't see him killing someone out right just because a higher up gave him the order. But I can see him doing it when he knows it is the lesser of two evils, in order to safe a life - especially a life he loves.

And finally, some Chuck/Sarah resolution. And in Paris, no less. That was a nice touch.

Glad to see that Casey can be reinstated. While I enjoyed the detour in his storyline, I couldn't really see that playing out for the remainder of the show.

Now we have to wait 3 weeks for the rest of the season. I was reading somewhere that there are 6 more eps, and originally this was meant to be sort of the season finale but then they got an order for more eps. So it will be kind of like Chuck 3.2 for what remains. And I am thrilled that we're going to see more of Papa Bartowski!

You know, at this point if it doesn't get picked up for a season 4, I think I could be happy. It's run a good course. At the same time, I could now also be happy with another season. I wouldn't have said that earlier - I thought the show had done about all it could. But they keep surprising me. ;)

I have been hoping to see him again. I love his relationship with Chuck.

I, too, have wondered at the limitations of this series but they have surprised me all along. I think bringing in Morgan helps as Chuck can't continue to remain the inexperienced but lucky spy doof we have grown to love. Morgan can. I love his line to Casey, "you've been buy mored" And you are right about Casey, too. That wouldn't work for the long term.

Chuck will never be a mindless killer but he can do it when he has no choice. I like how they resolved that issue, though I was sad for Shaw.

In a way, they left the door open for his return.

Okay, I need to stop talking about TV (but it is so fun!) and get ready to head out to clinical.
