Ugh! So I'm trying to be good little student and so some work and my Microsoft office has decided to go wonky. It won't save anything. And APA Perrla won't even run, either. I have the laptop but ALL of my documents are on the desktop and my network doesn't play nice.....Likely due to some odd setting that I have no clue about. My portable harddrive isn't as simple as it should be either. Why aren't these things made simple??? When they work all is well but when they don't it is difficult or impossible to fix. I am going to try to uninstall/ reinstall since attempting to repair didn't work.

Gah!!!!

Can you copy what you've done and email it to yourself? That way, it won't get lost.

No, the stupid thing wouldn't even copy and paste. Most of the functions were grayed out..except save, and then it wouldn't even do that. Thankfully, uninstalling and reinstalling both programs has seemed to work. For now.

Have you tried copy and pasting them into new document files? Sometimes files become corrupted especially in Microsoft Office. Many times, my old files, I will copy and paste into brand new document files just so it updates the age on the computer and it doesn't think it is some archaic file that I have left to rot away.

Your portable hard drive should play nice. Both of mine function without any need of direction. They pop up and away I go. Maybe you should consider a different brand although that doesn't help now, does it?

Sorry technology is failing you right now.

Actually, the stupid thing wouldn't even cut and paste. I found that out yesterday when I had already typed 4 pages that wouldn't save or copy/paste. It didn't help me yesterday but today I just uninstalled both Office and PERRLA and then reinstalled them both before I ever started typing. Thankfully, that worked (for now)

I think all my problems started with an update and, wouldn't you know it, system restore never works on this thing either. I have tried it many times only for it not to go through due to some system error I don't even understand.

Yes, I have few idiot proof measures at my disposal.

Dude, I love that icon.

Do you have a jump drive? Should be easier than an external hard drive, and lots of Mb. Glad to hear the reinstall helped. In my tech news, my new MacBook has died. It makes a funny noise and just has a grey screen. It's warrantied so I'll take it back. I'm just glad I haven't moved my email and work docs over yet!

I actually think I have too many school papers to fit on a jump drive. I do have a couple sitting around.

I cannot believe your MacBook has died. It is a good thing you didn't get all that moved, then.
