My day and other such things.

Today was absolutely beautiful! All of the trees are practically bloomed or blooming and I am so happy to see that! Today, we had baseball practice (and so it begins). Of course, I took the opportunity to go work out during the first part of it despite my son's objections. (you mean you aren't going to watch me said in this plaintive tone). "Son, I gotta work out sometime",I say when I really want to say, "watching practice was all sorts of fun when you were in T-ball. After all these years, it has lost a bit of that novelty." Especially after last year when the kids actually started pitching rather than the coach pitching. I mean, no one ever hit the ball! No one. It had to be THE most boring season I have ever sit through!
Of course, to make matters worse, when I did get there for the last hour, I missed him catching a pop fly due to running my mouth with the other bleacher warmers. It is funny how you only see these folks during the sporting events seasons but you still act as though you hang out every day. Anyway, the missing of the pop fly has consigned me to the ninth circle of mommy hell...at least for a few minutes.
We are having a health fair this Saturday at the elementary school. I agreed to participate before learning we had to be there at 7am. For the love of Pearl! Saturday is the only day I get to sleep in and now I have to be up at six...LOL! 4 hours of doing fingerstick blood sugars. Wheeeeeeeeeee.
I am quite proud of myself for reading something other than fanfiction last evening. I am really enjoying the first book in His Dark Materials series. So, I guess I'm not a total loss.
Some friends are trying to "fix me up" with someone. Eeeeeek! I would be totally opposed to this idea except that is how I met my husband. (And that worked out pretty well.) Since it is the same friends from the first time around, that makes me a little more open to the idea. We'll see. It's at the e-mail stage at the moment. I am no good at the dating game (not that I play it very often). I have never been good at it. I am clueless when it comes flirting and, according to my sister, I am clueless when someone is flirting with me. (I don't see how some guy in the checkout aisle at Walmart commenting on how pretty my ring is can be considered flirting???) I guess I just never think anyone would possible be interested. That sounds pretty pathetic, I know, but it is the truth. Gah!

Good for your for sticking to reading - and even better that you are enjoying it.
As for the potential "dating" thing - egads, I can't imagine how overwhelming just considering something like that must be. Sounds like you have a good mix of caution and excitement about it, however. I truly wish you all the best!

My tactic thus far is to ignore the whole scene. Too much trouble ;-)

Date: 2005-04-06 12:29 pm (UTC)Also, is this "someone" anyone we know? I imagine that D&L must know some people that aren't within a few classes of the SCHS class of '87, and yet it's hard for me to believe it's not the cousin of someone who works with the sister of a girl who played trumpet in band.
Good luck anyway, it's tough getting to know somebody new. Maybe at least this guy will be entertaining.
And I'm sure DS will get over the pop fly thing. If you want to get psychological, you can remind him that he should play for his own self-fulfillment and enjoyment, not the approbation of others. ;-)

Then he would ask what approbation meant and I would tell him to look it up and then he wouldn't....LOL!

Date: 2005-04-06 03:30 pm (UTC)As for Baseball season...oh I can relate with D attending Karate now. She wants me to watch, which of course I can't really. So I end up trying and missing stuff or talking to someone on the bleachers and getting the hairy eyeball from D.
Oy!
Good luck on the health fair. 6 a.m. should not be allowed on weekends!
