ICD-9 and other such nonsense

Well, I am glad to be here this evening. It is a welcome distraction. I think I must have the word stupid emblazoned across my forehead as the CQI director came up and asked me to go through the charts and make sure all new diagnoses in the H&P, progress notes, D/C summaries made it to the Dx. history sheet. Me, being the ever gullible newbie said, "Sure thing, I'll get right on it." Oh. My. Anyway, the ICD-9 book has become my friend. My prescious...LOL...NOT! As anyone who has ever done it knows, coding is a nightmare because finding the right codes can sometimes be like searching for a needle in a haystack!!! It is like a dictionary that directs you to see something else time after time. So, I actually managed to make it through 15 out of 82 charts. Uh, this is going to take a while! On a positive note, I did discover there was a code for maggot therapy. I couldn't find one for anticoagulation therapy but I was sure pleased to see that maggot therapy had it's very own niche!

Anyway, just glad tomorrow is Friday. WOOHOO!

In other news, the zit grows ever larger. I have this VHS tape that I ordered from The Sev Wide Web, if any of you have ever heard of it. Anyway, they spoof all these sci-fi shows in cartoons. Well, they made a video, Sev Trek, Pus In Boots in which "Commander Piker of the Sevship Enterforaprize is afflicted with a sentient pimple and faces the moral dilemma of whether to pop the zit or uphold the law of preserving new life." Maybe I should watch it tonight in honor of my own very personal affliction..sob!

I did discover there was a code for maggot therapy. I couldn't find one for anticoagulation therapy but I was sure pleased to see that maggot therapy had it's very own niche!
