Holy Hannah, could there have been crappier timing! One minute I am watching the 200th episode with all the excitement that accompanies that special occasion and also having a great time with Gate, as usual. The next moment I learn that it has been cancelled! Do what? What a slap in the face to all of those folks who work hard to make the show, who I read learned about all of this on the eve of 200's airing, and to all of us who eagerly await its airing from week to week!!! But, I suppose that is just sci-fi channel's standard operating procedure. It's almost as though that once they made that "longest US sci fi show" distinction it was time to kick it to the curb ASAP! I have been a science fiction fan for my whole life but I have just about had it with the Sci-fi channel. Shame, too, since I happen to like Atlantis, BSG, and may eventually like Eureka.  But, by golly, we have to keep that sci-fi staple, wrestling, going so I am sure something just had to go! Question is, am I going to keep watching what is left of the good sci-fi offerings, few though they may be? Right now, with a backlog of Atlantis eps that I still  haven't watched, I am not so sure.

Of course I have always realized  that the show couldn't go on forever and ever amen. But to end it without ending it will be a travesty. Plus, I feel really bad for CB and BB. Ten years or not, I have been in the process of just getting to know them and I like what I see.  During the episode "200" when Martin Lloyd says, "the movie's back on!" I was wondering if this was a way of telling the fans something we didn't know. But, really, how could that be since it was filmed before this bombshell announcement (and yes, even though I was expecting it at some point, this announcement was really a bombshell). I can only hope that Martin was being prophetic. I feel the same way I did when TNG was cancelled.  I would rather see a show on a weekly basis than wait years and years for a feature  or even a television film but, naturally, I will take what I can get!

In any case, Gate has been an enjoyable part of my life for quite some time. Although I know it's only a TV show, I am seriously bummed. :(

Me too!!! I mean, I feel bad for all the actors because it can't ever be fun to learn that you're suddenly unemployed, but AT, MS, and CJ have had a good, long haul with it. But BB and CB just got there!!! And Claudia in particular has done (in my mind, at least) so much in terms of giving the show a new spark this year. Plus, if I were they, I think I'd start getting a persecution complex when it comes to the Skiffy network execs!

On the upside, though, there's a new thing on Gateworld where Cooper's telling everyone to hold their horses, don't-count-us-out-but-I-can't-tell-you-why-yet. So who knows what that means: movie? another network picking it up? I'm not holding my breath, but it's something, I guess.

But dude, if they don't show the rest of the season, I'm going to hurt someone!!!

Don't you know it!! Poor CB comes to the series full time and then it gets cancelled. It makes me angry at them for her! I have enjoyed her character, especially this season and it is one of those situations where I know that my adoration is (was..sob)only going to increase with time. I love her chemistry with everyone, especially Daniel.

BB won me over from the get go and I feel his character has really come into his own this season. RDA decided to leave. He wanted to leave. And the Mitchell character was dissed at every turn. Poor BB. Mostly the dissing was done by those same folks who got all hot and bothered at the SDJ people for doing the same to Jonas Quinn. (Poor CN.) Strange how the tables are turned when it is your beloved (character or storyline) that is being replaced. Having ascribed to neither philosophy, I found the whole thing laughable. Obviously, I'll give anyone a chance.

I feel for the rest of the cast, naturally, but I guess I just feel more disheartened on the behalf of the newbies who just get there as the party is ending. I have had years and years to get to know the others and I almost feel as though they are old friends who I can revisit in all of my DVD's whenever I want. But Vala and Mitchell are new friends who seem to be moving away before I even get to really know them at all. And, dangit, I wanted to get to know them better!!

Well, I certainly hope they give us the scoop soon. I don't like being bummed out like this. All I have to say is whatever future plans are being cooked up, I hope that CB and BB are a part of it as well!!!

How bad is it that my first thought was, "but how will I get my weekly dose of Claudia Black???" And then I felt sort of treasonous because I loved SG-1 before I'd ever heard of CB, but she's such a big part of why I'm enjoying it now.

And dude, they'd better have BB and CB in anything they're cooking up now, because if not, I just might have to become one of those snippy, advocating fans who writes complaining letters to people...

Well, IMHO, if they are going for the movie or mini series thing, there is absolutely no reason not to have all of them because I really think RDA would do a movie more readily than come back to the series.

As for me, except for Uninvited, I have been having a blast with the whole thing! It is as though *all* of the characters have been recharged. I think the Ori have upped the ante and I absolutely can't wait to see how it all plays out, if we see how it all plays out. (Sniff)

I have never been one to write those complaining letters either but I just might become one of those fans as well. I have been invested in this show for quite some time now, moreso than any other show...EVER. So, why not?

I probably wouldn't become a letter-writing fan, though. Not over this. I mean, maybe if they weren't going to put Ben and Claudia in whatever came next, but I wouldn't write a letter about the cancellation.

I *would* have written a letter when Farscape was cancelled, and part of me is sort of sad that I missed the opportunity to do so. But that's my benchmark: I try to imagine how upset I would have been if I had been watching FS then and found out about the cancellation--and really, nothing else comes close to that.

I'm certainly sad and a bit angry about SG-1, but I don't feel like it's necessarily being cut off before its time or anything like that, much as I am still enjoying it. Farscape, on the other hand? Totally thwarted before its time, and even though PK Wars was awesome and all that, I still have deep sadness about the lack of a season 5.

Well, I know it has had a long run. I'm not denying that and, had it ended before we set the reset button I would have been accepted that because it was "an ending". Storylines were wrapped up and it was a good place. But, now we have new unsettled business and I fear that it will just end at a cliffhanger or crucial juncture and no more will be said (Earth 2 anyone?) If I had been watching Farscape when it ended, I would have been enraged at that. That was horrible and I even though so when I saw that ending on Skiffy when I was waiting for Gate to come on after. This was years before I even watched the series on DVD. I knew nothing about any of it and, still, I remember thinking. Well, if I watched this show I would be sooooooo mad.

I believe I am more incensed about the timing. Talk about kicking someone when they are up. This am I watched 200 for the second time. I go to bed. I wake up in the afternoon to find that Gate has been cancelled. It just seems a cruel and crass time to tell everyone.

Although I will really miss seeing it every week, as long as they actually end it, tie up loose ends, etc. I will accept that it has ended. If they leave us hanging ala Farscape, I am going to be one irritated fan.

I agree about the "reset button."

And I completely agree about the appalling way it was handled--bad enough for the fans to hear about this right after all the adulations, but apparently the cast and crew found out right before the party for the airing of the 200th ep. That is just Bad and Wrong!!!

And of course I'm going crazy with stress and stuff at the moment, myself, and am just not in a place, emotionally and psychologically, where I can handle stuff. Grrr.

I know!! And that makes we mad enough to spit nails on their behalf!!!

Yes, TV and other entertainment forms are supposed to be our way to unwind and destress, not bum us out even more.

(((((((((((GLENDA))))))))))))))) I am bummed too. Gate has had a huge impact on my life. The past five years have been an incredible experience.

I am going to keep watching Atlantis and any other SF show that catches my eye, you never know where it will take you. Maybe the Shows will be cancelled to soon but regardless of the outcome I wouldn't want to miss out on the trip. Stargate has been one hell of a trip and it is not finished yet. :)

I know, I know but Gate is the only show I would actually stay up for (and lose quite a bit of already shortened sleep time) after being up all night. (as I did Saturday am just to watch 200..LOL) It's just a bad sign when the show sits on my DVR several weeks before I watch. It doesn't mean that I don't like it, it means that it isn't a show that I just "can't wait" to watch and I am going to really miss that!

EWWWWWW!!! ; )

Stargate is unique. I have NEVER felt this way about a show. I will miss the excitement of waiting for the new season. Reading spoilers and sharing them with my friends.

You mean luring your friends to the spoiler dark side!

Still can't wait for that certain story arc and I dare say that certain comments lead me to believe that RDA will be there for that. I'm giddy with excitement and speculation over that. (even though it will be during the second half of the season destined to air, if it actually does, at some point during the next decade..I mean, March....grrrrrrr.)

Maybe sci fi has a death wish

Your subject line is the BEST EVAH!!!!

And I agree with everything you say. I feel especially bad for CB and BB. Even though I'm not head over heels for BB, I've so appreciated how he's thrown himself into this role (doing so much more than, say, Joe Flanigan has done lately with his established -- and renewed! -- role).

I'm drinking wine to dull the pain. Thank goodness there's Life on Mars tonight to distract me.

LOL, pass me some, will ya.

Life on Mars

Okay, what's that about? It seems that I am going to be in the market to find a bunch of really good shows to ease the pain of Stargate's imminent demise. But, I am not due a Netflix till tomorrow so must wait for more of Veronica and Sydney.

On a completely unrelated note, You and De's gushing over North and South has prompted me to check it out from the library. They actually had it, can you believe it? Only problem is that it is an older, musty book and I sneezed three or four times (in the library no less where the sound goes on and on) while simply turning the pages. I believe I'll have to take some allergy medicine before I begin. ;)

Well, supposedly they will air the rest of the season according to reports. It appears we still have to wait to March. I guess I just wouldn't be surprised by anything at this point!
